I have had an ankle triple arthrodesis in July 2017. 12 yrs previous to that I had a calcu osteotomy on both feet due to collapsed arches. I have just had first triple fusion done in July and I am out of my cast in an air boot. Still get pain burning swelling. Can’t walk without crutches and god knows I’ve tried.long distance I’m in a wheelchair. I try to see the end to all this but I just can’t. I have put on over a stone in weight to.am I supposed to be walking without crutches because I just can’t do it 😫.

I had a double Fusion in July & a cacaneal osteotomy & I’m still on crutches. My foot is still severely over pronated & the Surgeon says that’s all he can do for me. Says I will always need orthotics & custom made shoes. When I step down, all the pressure goes into my ankle under the subtalar joint which is where the fusion was done. I don’t see an end in sight either & it’s pretty discouraging. I’m told it takes up to a year for full healing to take place so hang in there. Hopefully it will get better for you.

      Hi barb1953

I had my calcu osteotomy years ago.both feet lasted 12yrs then started to feel pain again. I went to see one surgeon who said would give me cortisone injections. I didn’t feel comfortable and went back to gp and got second opinion.thats when I was told my feet had severe deformity. And was told triple arthrodesis to take away pain.i had it done July 28th was in cast for 12 weeks then now air boot.i can’t walk without crutches as I just can not balance and long distance pain is too much strain on the other foot that I will be having another triple arthrodesis on if all goes well with this one.it is so frustrating not being able to do the things I used to take for granted. Even standing to wash isn’t possible. I really hope things look up for you

It sounds like your situation is so similar to mine. I also have to have the other foot done but not until this one gets better. Unfortunately the fusion he did on my ankle has not made any difference. Everything feels the same. My foot is still as twisted as it was & my ankle twists when I step down on it. It’s like my ankle goes one direction & my foot goes another. I’m really scared as he said there’s nothing else he can do for me. I live in a part of Canada that we only have one foot & ankle surgeon. Out healthcare may be free but it sucks if they refuse to fix what they did. I don’t hold out much hope of improvements. My plan B is braces called ExoSym. I need to start a go fund me page as it will cost me about $ 25,000 US. It’s only done in Washington. Look that up as it sounds pretty amazing.

I have had those. We call them calipers here. I had them before calcu osteotomy. But I couldn’t get on with them as my feet was pulling one way and they made my knee caps feel funny.if you’re medical is free and they are saying you need specialist shoes then surely they are free

They would never pay for anything out of province.
