TRIPLE FUSION RECOVERY

Posted , 3 users are following.

Been about 12 weeks since triple ankle fusion. I'm still in boot with crutches /walker. Dr wants me to try to go without crutches / walker. It's been difficult. LOTS of pain on heel and left and ride side of foot. Not just sore. Will pain ever go away? Is healing not in my future? They said it has fully fused. It's been 19 months since injury, 1st surgery was clean out and cut part of talus bone. Total of 24 wks PT, several Cort. Shots , braces. So discouraged.

Two years si ce injury here severe compound fracture left ankle five surgeries two fusions. Last one May 1st still with crutches. Dr says use crutches until I do not limp. Hang in there it will get better. All I have read say fusion can take full 12 to 18 months even though x-s show it fused. You're body will let you know. Still have swelling here that can last up toa year also. It takes time hope this helps you are not alone. Ed

I'm so sorry you are in so much pain and such a long journey for you! Don't push your body too much. If you are better with the walker or crutches then use them. You will know when you can move forward without them. At least that's what I do. I understand doctors and pt wanting improvements but I also understand what my body is saying to me when my injury is yelling at me. Good luck and take care!
