Trouble passing bowel movements

Hi,

For a couple of years now I have had trouble passing bowel movements, I'm only 20 but nearly everytime I need to go I have to press down on either my perineum or in the inside of my vaginal. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem and is it a serious issue?

Thanks

I am a male so i dont have this issue but i have heard about it. You likely have a weakened abdominal wall that will eventually result in a hernia. Go talk to your doctor about this! Much easier to prevent things then to treat them afterwards.

It could also be you are very constipated and unable to relieve yourself properly due to this. It happens to me and i have to do the same as you but ive always 'assumed' it was due to my constipation..

There's something called the Bristol Stool Chart which shows pictures (hum lovely!) of what your poo should look like and if you have a look at it there's a lot of information about the different types and what causes them.  If you feel like having a look it should help you decide what's causing your problem.  The main advice for what sounds like constipation like drinking more water and upping your intake of fibre isn't always the best treatment apparently and could actually make things worse.   You really should see a doctor as it's not good to have that problem for two years or more and you could be doing irreversible damage to your insides by letting it go on so get an appointment with your doctor soon.
