Trouble sleeping after inguinal hernia surgery

Posted , 13 users are following.

I had my inguinal hernia fixed over a week ago, and generally everything is fine.  No pain during the day & I've started taking proper walks.  The wound is healing well, although when I changed the dressing I was a bit surprised to find an 8" cut line as I'd expected keyhole surgery.  However, I get a sharp stinging pain as soon as I lie down that prevents me sleeping at night.  Any ideas?

I had my repair done 4 days ago and it's painful, one thing that I have been doing is place a pillow under my scrotom so it pick it up and it will allow you to sleep at night. I also ordered on eBay som scrotom support undearware that look funky but people say they work and one can walk much better.

Almost at my 1 year anniversary of my Inguinal Hernia repair and have no further issues apart from the odd twinge if I am tired perhaps. Apart from that it's a hell of a lot better than having the constant nagging and worry of a groin hernia which I did not like at all. I had an open mesh (tension-free) repair by a hernia specialist in London, UK and am glad I did my homework on finding a surgeon. However I would like to say to anyone who has recently had or is due for the op, and as per the discussions in this thread. It does take time to heal and repair. Don't expect miracles in the first few months.

Sorry I am new here. But just had inguinal hernia in both groins and umbilical hernia all at the same time October19th 2021 and it is now almost 2wks after surgery. It was laparoscopic robotic surgery. I don't know what mesh they used but I do know they did one at my belly button and one huge one from my right groin across my blatter to my left groin.

    I have a couple questions please .

Has anyone had pain into there lower back and hip. Also I can sleep on my back and right side no problem. But I can't sleep on my left as it causes alot of pain. I have had no problems using the bathroom thank God. But getting up from the toilet is again horrible pain. Anyone know how long this should last. Any info would be greatly appreciated as this surgery has SUCKED. And unfortunately I have had alot of surgeries some pretty extensive but no pain like with this one. My doctor said they normally only repair one to two hernias at a time. But mine were so bad they had no choice but to do all 3. And I am at a loss as to what to expect so been looking all over the internet. So any Info you all can give I be so grateful. Sorry for so long of a story lol...
