Trouble urinating

Hi all, I have a 8.5cm subserosal fibroid posterior into the right side of my uterus. It was found about 15 months ago during a scan and it was never giving me any problems - I never even knew it was there! My gyno inserted a mirena to apparently discourage it growing any further in October last year and I had no further problems until about 5 months ago when all of a sudden one day I just could not pee. There was a major blockage which I though was a urinary tract infection but finally I got it out and now ever since then, quite often I still feel blocked up and finding it really really difficult to urinate. Normally happens when I have a full bladder. Also, I have been experiencing some mild cramping off and on and heaviness/discomfort in my posterior especially when I sit down quickly or hard on my backside. I guess I'm wanting to know if anyone else is having similar experiences and if this is quite normal?

Thanks.

Hi Vicky, I discovered my 10cm fibroid when I started getting pains whilst peeing too. I was at work one day and was on a conference call. I blocked my pee as you do and then ran to the loo, whilst I was peeing I hard the worst pain ever and nearly fainted. I knew then that something was wrong. At night I would often wake up with really bad pressure pains from a full bladder. I was put on the highest dose of cocodomol, had the GRNH injection for 3 months and now on Esmya. I have my open Myomectomy in about 3 weeks. I would get it treated asap and ask the consultant to discuss your options.

Hi Sofie, thanks for your reply. I went to see a doctor yesterday - my usual specialist is away on maternity leave which is why I've turned to this forum for advice, but I saw a different one who took an ultrasound and thankfully it is not growing. She said that it is positioned in the back (posterior) but that is causing my uterus to shift in a way that is blocking my bladder and that I should make an appointment with my specialist when she is back in September. So I shall wait and see.

Gosh what a horribly inconvenient little thing it is for us hey! I hope your myomectomy goes smoothly, you heal quickly and that you find yourself in much less discomfort in the long run.

I had a large right sided posterior fibroid that was causing bladder pressure, pelvic fullness, and abdominal distention. I had a robotic myomectomy on 7/27 and already feel relief of my symptoms. The tumor was displacing my uterus and pressing on my bladder. The large fibroid measured 10.5 cm and smaller ones were 3cm and 4cm. They all appeared smaller on ultrasound and ended up being larger.
