Trying again

Hello

I stopped duloxetine/cymbalta over a month ago and am trying it again.

I'm 6 days into the medicine and have increased anxiety and depression. My insides are crying but I can't release anything. I feel awful but am perservering for now. Will be seeing the Psychiatrist in 3 weeks time and hope I can hold on until then.

I wish more people would post on here.

    Hi,

thats exactly how duloxetine made me feel. It didn't seem to help my mood at all, just stopped me from releasing how I felt. In the end I thought I was going to explode!! :? I couldn't talk about it or cry or release any sort of emotion at all.

I have just come off of the duloxetine and gone onto Mirtazapine for this very reason. I am having terrible withdrawal. How did you cope with coming off it the first time? Id love to hear your experiences, so hopefully Im not totally alone

Dont understand why more people aren't posting about duloxetine and their experiences

Well you wanted more experiences of duloxetine so here goes. I was prescribed 60mg of duloxetine as an add on to the other meds I was on but also to eventually wean myself of dothiepin. I had high hopes for this drug from the outset. I experienced extreme nausea and sickness being sick every night. I had terrible headaches on one side of my head. I had terrible giddiness and would fall over from the bed to the loo! I was on it little over a month and have no plans to back on it favouring inspite of the weight gain mirtazapine instead. I lost half a stone during this period and had to take time off work. I also encountered sexual difficulties which seem to be attributed to the duloxetine. I wanted to give it more time but my psychiatrist took me off it immediately.

    Hi pooh bear

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It seems to sound pretty similar to my experiences.

How are you finding the Mirtazapine? I am on my 5th day and feel awful, but like I said im not sure if thats because of the withdrawal of the duloxetine or not.

    wow! replies....this is great!!! :D

Thanks for replying!!! When I first came off the Duloxetine I experienced the most excruciating muscle pain - and the bizarre thing was that I was only on Duloxetine for 8 days!!!

Second time round, it's nearly 3 weeks and I still feel awful - infact my depression is a lot worse and my insides seem to be screaming. I'm seeing the Psychiatrist tomorrow and I've made up my mind that I'm coming off. I don't know which way to turn and don't want to keep trying all different meds.

Right now, I'm so fatigued and just want to stay in bed all day. I feel I'm in a different world from everyone else......so detached and so alone!!!

Has Mirtazapine worked better for you?

Hi Squeezy I really wanted the duloxetine to work but unfortunately it did not. The mirtazapine seems to be working quite nicely but last week I put on 3lbs! This week I'm trying very hard not to overeat. I've had a horrendous weekend as I have come off dothiepin at 150mg. Feeling better now. Taking mirtazapine 30mg and lithium 1,000mg.
