Trying to walk in boots after ankle fusion what to do?

I had ankle fusion three months ago all joints are fused in my ankle currently. plates and pins and all that fun stuff. I am supposed to be walking in shoes off and on and have found that trying to wear my boots approximately 1 to 1 1/4 inch tall heel just does not feel right. Are there any suggestions what I can do with my boot or foot so I may wear these. I am just a boot person! Or I was
