Hi rachel,  I know how you feel - I am a thyroid patient too.  I was always told that my blood tests were normal but I was sooo tired all the time.  So I decided to give myself a course of iron tablets and I improved amazingly.  I do have trouble keeping the ferritin levels up and they generally fall off again if I stop the iron.  I try to take some iron several time a week .. it really helps.  Palpitations are also a sign of iron depletion.  The range for ferritin is huge and I believe we have to find the sweet spot in that range that suits us.  Mine is low (for me) at 76 and I only had to raise it a little to feel better.  Doctors warn against taking too much iron but I think we thyroid people tend to find it hard to keep iron in our systems and you can always have a blood test later to check on your progress.  Be sure to take a high dose iron tablet for best results even if you only take it a few times a week.

    I hope this helps ...

i'm not very good at supplementation....prob due to this lethargy thing...but a helpful source of iron promotion is fluorovite (the gluten free version of florodix) aavailable throughout europe.

if you find a good source of ferritins i would be very interested. thanks and good luck with this kind and encouraging recommendation from sketchy.
