TULP Operation

Hi, My prostate was extremely large and I had no choice but to have the TULP operation, The catheter was removed 4 days ago, and I end up passing urine in average of 20 times daily, the times in between are changing, from every 10 min to one hour to 1.30. I am passing some blood and small clots of which the Dr, said its ok. however i still feel as i am dribbling with opposed to good pressure. has anyone had this type of experience, ? I was hoping that each day it will get better, but for example yesterday I felt better than today

What did you really have ? TURP ? TUIP ? TULIP ? 4 days is still too early regardless.

How big was you prostate that they told you that?? It is very unlikely that better options were not available. Are you in the UK ?

It was turp. They have reduced 90grams.

Prior I had a blockage and panicked. So there was no way out. I didn't want to be stuck in some remote area

I've had two laser procedures. First time my prostate was 75grms and the second it was 135gms. That time they took away 80 grms.

As my first Uro said in 1995 'Don't go to any islands' I said that we were thinking of going to Zambia. He held his head in his hands 😃 I waited nine years for laser to come along before getting it done and went to a lot of islands and remote places in that time.

Prior to my TURP, I was generally getting up twice at night and peeing every 2 hours or less during the day. I stayed one night in the hospital and came home without a catheter. The first night home, I got up 8 times. Got up 4 times per night for the next 4 days. Was 10 days before I got back to twice a night. I am drinking a lot of water so I'm still going frequently during the day but my stream got a little stronger each day and after a week or so, I felt it was stronger than it had been prior to the surgery. My doctor said frequency & urgency would last 2 to 3 weeks. I passed a huge clot (the size of a dime) on day 11 with a bright red squirt. Am still seeing a little pink each time I start to pee. I see the doctor for my 2 week follow-up in 2 days.

You would have been better coming here prior to the procedure as there much good international advice available .

I assume you mean TURP. If you get to normalcy in 90 days you will be about average.

I am sorry that you you have to have a Turp. Why did not you get offered something else. Or is that was the only thing your doctor did. So that is what he pushed. Your prostate was only 90 that really is not that big. We have ad men on here with prostate of 200 and more.

I bet you were talked into it by your doctor. To late know I hope all works out for you.

    Good luck...Ken
