Turmeric/ haemachromatosis/ AF

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have been diagnosed with HH and am awaiting chelation therapy.

I have been combining foods to lower my iron absorption and would like to take turmeric

to help protect my liver. unfortunately I have Atrial Fibrillation and take anticoagulants to prevent a stroke.

i have read that turmeric/ milk thistle and vitamin e all interact with blood thinners so does anyone out there know what else i can try?

hi its a tricky one I am on riveroxaban for life because of a pulmonory embolism bllod clots lungs

advice is dont take tumeric thins the blood more and dont take anti inflammatory drugs like neurofen either interacts with blood thinners

bit if a shame that as HH has brought on arthritis so i am now on new drugs to suppress immune system as i am immune to steriods

stay healthy avoid tumeric if u are on blood thinners

Yes, it is a myth. If turmeric did this then all of India would be anaemic! A good Omega 3 fish oil is better for inflammation.

If you want to protect your liver, eliminate all sugars and starchy carbs from your diet. these are what cause fatty liver. FL does not show up in blood tests - only CT scan. But as most of us have fatty liver, this is the way to go. I have been avoiding sugars, etc for decades and a CT scan showed no fatty liver. I can't pass up an occasional baked goodie when someone has made some - can't be rude, can I? Also, a spoonful or two of some cheesecake when my husband has some with his coffee (out) once a week. Nothing like that in house.
