TURPS Procedure issues

Hi, like most on here i have been experiencing BPH for many years and opted to have TURPS surgery now some eighteen months ago. Since that time my condition appears to have worsened and I'm now on double the medication i was on previously - namely Doxasossin.

Daytime is not too bad but during the night my sleep is disrupted intermittently every hour or so. Coupled with nightmares and/or extremely disturbing vivid dreams. No doctor has since been able to explain so I would be curious to learn if anyone is experiencing similar ?

The retention sometimes causes very strange feelings, almost flu like but this is only every few days. It almost seems to work in a cycle and I can't seem to pinpoint the reason.

I'm booked for further camera investigation (systethoscope?) but having to wait excessive time as NHS under pressure with more urgent cancer patients. My appointment keeps getting deferred which I do understand.

My questions are : does anyone share my symptoms and if so, what are your coping strategies ? Do you think my TURPS operation has potentially gone wrong and some nerve damage incurred ? Finally, can anyone recommend more effective medication without awful side effects ? Does anyone else have the vivid dream issues ?

Any help advice most appreciated. This really is an annoying and sometimes debilitating problem.

Thank you fellow sufferers. Duncan

Sorry to hear about your post-TURP problems. Based on my TURP experience (in the US) I would say yours was not done well. I am 4 years post-TURP. I get up usually only once a night. My stream is still fairly strong and I am on no medication. Pre-TURP I was getting up 2 or 3 times per night and could rarely last more than about 90 minutes during the day without having to pee. I was also on doxazosin but stopped that immediately after the surgery. In the US, we would call the "camera investigation" a cystoscopy. Good luck. I hope you are able to get some relief.
