Twitching and jerking whilst falling asleep

This is my first post here and just looking for some reassurance and wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It started just over a month ago. I went from being someone who has never had any trouble sleeping to suddenly having a really awful time with it. When I am falling asleep I get random jerks and twitches all over me body. Like my shoulder would jerk, then my leg, then my hand and so on. Each jerk causes a nervous sensation in my stomach and then I become incredibly anxious wondering when the next jerk is going to come, and therefore it takes me hours to fall asleep and its absolute hell. I had a couple of weeks where I barely noticed it and slept quite well, then just when I thought it was much better, it comes back, which is why I think it's hormonal. I've contacted my doctor and he wants to do bloods to see if anything flags up. I'm nearly 45 and also suffer with the internal tremors, weak arms and legs, palpitations, headaches, itching, acid reflux, vertigo, tinnitus and crippling anxiety.

Hi, I also get this too. I also get them in my throat area and chest area which makes my anxiety go up. I was told all my symptoms are from hormones being all over and I did a saliva hormone test and my progesterone is declining. Had two ekgs on my heart, blood tests but my doctor says its not perimenopause. Thats why I went to another doctor in OB practice. I also deal with hot flashes, night sweats, heart palps, anxiety, vertigo, nausea twitching and so much more. I deal with it but some days are just awful. One symptom leaves and another comes on. I come on here to get reassured and know that I'm not alone in all this perimenopause craziness. Take Care!

Hi there. Yes, I get throat and chest ones too and one in my nose that feels like an involuntary sniff. All of this has made my anxiety go through the roof and I'm terrified of bed times now. I'm so scared there's some nasty neurological disease going on. You sound exactly like me. One weird symptom after another, it's a never ending circle of hell isn't it?

Yes complete hell us women have to go through this. Its exhausting for sure. I always refer back to these forums to get reassurance that I'm not going crazy. At times I feel like I am or dying but then have to tell myself its the stupid hormones.

I also get the one in my nose too. When it first happened it freaked me out. Unbelievable what hormones can do to a body. Stay strong!❤
