Twitching problems, related to old injury?

Six months ago, I developed an intense pain on the bottom of my foot, on the side of my pinky toe. I also had intense twitching in my foot and my calf, plus some pins and needles sensations. I eventually figured out it was exacerbated by taking long walks in cheap sandals and walking barefoot at home 24/7 when working remotely due to covid. It took about two months for me to figure out the cause of the pain, and once I switched to proper walking shoes and started wearing shoes indoors, the pain and the twitching gradually subsided.

Everything was fine for about three months, but two weeks ago the twitching randomly started up again (no pain or pins and needles, only twitching). The return of the twitching happened around the same time I got back into exercising, and I was doing random workouts on the carpet wearing running shoes.

I had obviously done something terrible to my foot in the summer, but since it all got better I assumed I was in the clear. Now that the twitching is back, I'm wondering if there could still be an unresolved issue with my foot with no pain present? Or, could an old injury make me more prone to twitching in the area when I work out?

    In that situation, You can do this;

    • get plenty of rest
    • try to find ways to relax
    • stretch and massage any muscles affected by cramps
    • try not to worry about it - a twitch is usually harmless, and worrying can make it worse

    But, don't do this;

    • do not drink lots of caffeine, such as tea and coffee
    • do not drink lots of alcohol
    • do not stop taking a prescribed medicine without getting medical advice, even if you think it could be causing your twitch

    Its natural for body parts to twitch during some activities we do throughout the day. It all depends on blood flow to the affected muscles.
