Two week check up

Posted , 6 users are following.

Had my two week check up today (16 days) and everything went great.

Ortho Doc said it was ok to progress to cane, then walking if and when I strengthen my muscles. I was also ok'd to drive.

The doctor was amazed at my range of motion. He said I am progressing faster than expected! Yay!!!!

It was really amazing to see all my metal....pins, plates, and hip replacement all working in one hip!

Hope all have a good night.

    Hi Carla,

Great to have your freedom back!! I am 16 days too, started to drive a short distance and it was not as easy as I thought. I drive an automatic and had a right THR so I have to use my hip and changing pedals seemed nothing but after a few kms it hurt.

Also I'm having to drive our big 4WD as it is higher and thus the seat is more comfortable.

Good luck with your rehabilitation, you're going great 😄👏👍🌈💌

You have amazed me this far! Passing me with colors. But as they say, it's not a race and we all have our own road to travel!

Good luck in yours as well.

I can't wait to see what this month brings. Before my THR I wouldn't have said that in the least.

Waw. I'm also half way into week 3 and still on 2 crutches as advised. Got in daughters car yesterday and found it still hard to get in. Think it must cdepend on type of hip .

Great news for you Carla. I wish you continued progress.

My car is automatic and a higher jeep vehicle. It is a lot easier to get in than a lower one. Plus I had the anterior method, no precautions.

The doctor advised to take it slow, avoid peak hours, and places with lots of stop and go traffic.

You're doing great getting out and about!

I do feel good but I can tell I walked more with cane. My leg was a bit stiff later in the evening.

I guess it's just a reminder not to go for any marathon walks too soon.

He wants me to get leg stronger since it hasn't been used for much of this year. Next visit he will probably recommend physio!

Here's to all pur new hips! The first week or so can be a doozy but it does get better with time and some effort.

I agree Renee! It's funny how in the first few days I was in agony and so very worried. I came here on an Internet search and was comforted with others experiences. I saw we are all different in recovering but the same as well.

I still have a road ahead but I am amazed at what my leg can do now. I see it getting closer and closer to the what I thought I lost in June 2014 in that awful wreck.

I may have lost a year (in a way) but here I am....a woman with tons of metal getting better everyday! One step at a time!

      Hi Carla

Glad all is going so well

These life experiences make us better people at the end of the day, hopefully more tolerant and understanding of other folks challenges and of our own amazing resilience and strength

I was amazed too when I saw my Xrays last night and my new joint and how they had planned it all out on the screen before they did the surgery.

You really are getting there - every day brings more improvement!

      Kind wishes Linda xx
