Two Week Follow up

Update: Went for my two week....wound is closed and healing nicely. I've had two weeks of at home physical therapy and will now begin outpatient. Released to drive, only local and when necessary. Using a walker and my cane but only when someone is with me....I live alone! Feels so good to use the cane....stand so tall and minimal limp. Still on pain meds....but cut down on them. I'm a happy girl.....have another 8 weeks out of work...❤️❤️

Wow Lizard! ! ! You are a very fast lizard! I sure wish I recovered as quickly.

I keep hearing about home physio ... do you get someone coming to your home? We get a booklet of exercises then 6 weekly sessions at the joint clinic - a very good PT though and she has given some extra sessions to help strengthen me for my next THR.

Keep up this progress - very impressive.

    Cheers

In the US, if your insurance covers it, (not all do) you can have a nurse and a PT come to your home after discharge from the hospital. My husband had home PT visits twice a week for the first couple of weeks and also had the nurse visiting a couple of times per week. The home nurse and PT were great and by the time they discharged him the inscision was healed over (the home nurse took the staples out) and with the help of the home PT he'd progressed from walking with two crutches to one crutch and then to a cane. He's now one month post surgery and is continuing to do great, he's going to out patient PT, we are taking long walks and he's just about abandoned the cane.

So so happy to hear you are doing so well lizard.

    Hi Lizard,

Well done you !!!  easy does it - good thinking using the cane or walker when with somebody - you can sort of keep the pace without going all over the place -

That is the difference between PT in USA and everywhere else, I think - I have lived in Los Angeles for 34 years and worked at Home Health Care office for a couple of years - When PT is ordered , PT comes to the home and works with patient - I live in Holland since June 2014 and had 2 THR - Expected PT session to be similar as in L.A.-   not so ...

Great that you can drive too - So incredibly happy for you and your new found independence!

    big warm hug

Fabulous news Lizard, well done.  So envious you can drive after 2 weeks.  I had to wait for 6 weeks but I don't think I would have been ready before that.  Posterior approach left me feeling quite sore.

    Keep it up Xxx
