Two weeks post wrist surgery

Hi all.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I had ORIF surgery - the insertion of metal plate in my wrist. I’m going for an X-ray and checkup tomorrow, but was wondering how I should be feeling/ improving after two weeks. I’m no longer in pain killers and have slight pain only when I move the arm. My fingers are still pretty tender and I have almost no rotation in the wrist. All completely normal by your standards/experiences?

Thanks in advance

When you get castsplint off...it will feel like lead and not like its part of you...those first movements are killer...its going to be a long time...I broke mine jan 3 and Im far from recovered...make sure you get a good therapist..wish all the best Im still battling it...not happy ...

So the cast is off. Pain so far has been manageable although I’ve had the splint on constantly. Hand is very swollen and gmhave started my own physio exercises. Unsurprisingly I don’t have much movement, I can make a fist but thine struggles to reach all the fingers and hurts when I push it but will persevere.

Sounds pretty normal.  I had my ORIF surgery Jan 25.  I'm still in pain.  However, the movement is getting better - wrist rotation is much better.  You have to keep up with the therapy exercises.  My mistake was I overdid it - if ten reps were good, twenty would be better - NOPE!.  So now I have pain because I over stressed the tendons.  I still feel the plate. I also have a great deal of pain on the back of the wrist bones - not where the breaks were.  Swelling is still severe.  I was told 6 mos to a year for swelling to be gone and at least 6 mos. for movement.  Would really like to get rid of the pain though.  It's getting old.
