Hi all. I get chest pain and palpitations that my dr believes are part of my anxiety.

Also I get chest pains. Not all the time they come on either for a few seconds or can come on for 30 mins or so. It can be a dull pain but can also be a stabbing pain and it scares me.

Does anyone get both these symptoms?? I feel like im going nutty. They have done a few ecgs on me which was fine and a 24hr monitor which was fine. Im going for a chest xray next week. I just dont know what to do really.

Please help! X

Hi I'm having the same problem palpitations they think caused by anxiety! My heart skips, stops, starts but doesn't race! No real pain but makes me feel generally unwell!!

ive had them pretty much permiantely for three months now and before that off and on! What ever you do don't go on beta blockers as I've just tried them for the past two days! Bloody awfull feeling in my body chest pain angina symptoms, never again two days is enough !!!!!

what anxiety do you have Heath anxiety? Or general? Do you feel generally unwell as I do! I've had anxiety for 15 years and have never had any real help! I've tried anti d,s but didn't really help I really believe that long periods of unhappiness in your life causes anxiety! Try and change lifestyle eat well exercise but stay away from medication as I believe makes you worse! Deep breathing always helps me with palps and relaxation! I know it's easy for me to say this but I know where your coming from totally anxiety stinks!!! I'm now 41 and have had anxiety for. 20 years happiness is the key to beat this crap condition!! Take care and good luck

I wasjust curious about how much they stared you on and howquick it works?

      Hi

I've been waiting to see cardiologist for two months! And that's for the letter for appointment nhs crazy waiting times! Had ECG and all come back saying heart normal but having palps! My palps at the moment r pretty much all the time heart beats normal then stops and starts doesn't race!! What does your heart do and r they pretty much all the time? My heart feels like a wet fish out of water flipping around! Nice ey!!!! Makes me feel a little unwell and just slightly rough!!! I'm not over weight and pretty fit so don't think it's a life style thing!!! Good old anxiety me thinks!!! well I hope!!! But until I've seen specialist so can't be sure so obviously feeling slightly anxious!!! How do you do you feel when your having palps and how often you having them!!!

My Gp asked me if I was a risk taker honestly ask me that! I said I just want rid of the palps anything so they go! So he suggested beta- blockers! First day felt totally normal! Day second pill felt bloody awful! Heart felt like it was throbbing! Like if you ever had a septic finger and it throbs! Well felt like my heart! Horrible feeling! And just felt really strange and more unwell so stopped taking and haven't been back to Gp no more pills for me until they know if there's a problem with my heart!! Makes sence I think!!! Have you got a good Gp? How long you had palps and anxiety? Have you seen cardiologist?

Horrible anxiety isn't it bloody cruel! Unless you've got it you don't really understand and that includes most docs! I've had so many physical symptoms over the years I'm sure my doc think I'm bloody mad! Not mad anxiety!!

20 years of feeling slightly rough and a little unwell do have the odd day of feeling really well no palps no other symptoms just not often enough! I have misses and kids but this condition takes a lot of my time and energy always in my thoughts when I should be thinking of them! Horrible!!

So it's up to you if you take them but I wouldn't because even if they do work what you gunna do stay on them forever?!! Read the withdrawals forums blood hard to get horrible withdrawals symptoms!!! Good luck what ever your you do and keep me posted regards simon

Thanks for the info, Yes i have a GP he was not very reaauring that there was nothing wrong withmy heart, so I took it upon myself to go see  two cardiologist and they both said i was fit and should worry about my heart so much and that i was young not in the risk of any heart fauilure and that i should see any more cardiologist until iam at least 80 years old. The cardo said that palpation  were a normal  reaction to stress and he said as long as they are not intrfering with day to day life constanly not to worry about it, then he said if  you want i give you a low dose beta blocker to slow down the pluse as need. and that was it. i was mad confused and left it alone until the palation started again yesterday. So i was wonder should i give the beta blocker a try. Thank you for your response. i have not try the beta blocker and i go focus more on natural remedies for now. thank you so much. Sorry for your horrible experience with beta blockers.

Hi do you feel poorly when your having the palps? Or just anxious! It sounds like it is interfering with your day to day life! I've had very bad palps today and felt tired faint and very uncomfortable in my chest! No real chest pain but little twinge pain!

My pulse rate did slow down on the beta-blockers but they didn't completely go so didn't really see the point in staying on them! Along with the throbing and strange feeling in my body they gave me! However they might work on you but I doubt it! Last resort IDE say I'm 41 not sure how old you are but my guess is to young to be on those pills!!! But I know what your going through its proper crap!!

My heart seems to reset itself after I sleep and as the day goes on they get worse! What sort of palps you having? Fast, slow, or missing beats?

I am 37 and my palpation came about when i had a bad panic attack one day and it sent me to the er cause pulse rate was 156 and i was scared thinkinf  the worst. and the dr. said it was just my anixiety but  this wasthe first time he offer me beta blocker with ativan, i never try them before and i was kind of question this. i had had many palpation today pulse been 84 an bp 112/60. so that why i don't want to take the beta blocker i think it will drop bp too low. i know it stress that cause the palps so i opt not to take the med's. The palps i have is fast . cause me to feel a lil tightnessness in chest and hot, fatigue. i try noyt to stress and deal with it fr now, but mines also reset itself after sleep and progress through out the day. i just feel so sluggys when my palps start thu...i hope you are feeling better thu

      Hi

I've had the palps on and off for a couple of years but the last 3-4 months been pretty much all the time! I get the odd day with none and it's amazing how good I feel!! Sleeping resets some nights but I've now started to get the odd day rite through which is not nice! My symptoms are slightly different to yours as your rate increases my heart just stops and starts I think the anxiety over the years has warn my stress tolerance level to zero! The slightest bit of stress causes them! As we know stress is everyday life so that's probably why I've got them all the time!!

A couple of little things can help stop them for me! One is caughing that stops them but they start up again pretty much straight away another is pretend to hiccup! Sounds strange but works stops them dead in there tracks but again they come back, I only use these if I get a really bad or strong batch of palps they touch a nerve in your belly which reset your heart, try them if you haven't already they work!!

Wouldn't it be nice to wake up and never feel the affects of anxiety again strange thing is everyone I know wouldn't believe I have anxiety!!  Simon

Doctor OZ(he's a heart surgeon who has a daily TV program on all kinds of health issues) talked about this very thing...anxiety vs a heart attack today on his program on TV. I'd suggest you go to his web site and see if you can replay that episode. It may not be on there just yet. I've not checked, but I think it will be on there within a few days if it's not already there.Hopefully you will get enought info from his web site to help you.
