Typical appearance??

after being diagnosed with LS with apparently having no symptoms or so I thought. After seeing a gynaecologist for something else he diagnosed LS and said my labia had fused together, so I assume I must have had it for sometime. A few months ago I had severe itching down one side of my inner labia on a tiny red patch. This stopped but has started again and the same red patch seems to be getting bigger. I just wondered if anyone else had the same experience or symptom. I'm terrified it could be something more sinister, I'm waiting for a biopsy to confirm LS diagnosis.

Just to add I don't have any of the white patches which are described.

I had small red irritated area and at times very itchy on one side of inner labia but just thought it was dry from lack of estrogen but lo and behold several years later I was red all over down there but no itching. It took months to finally have biopsy and confirm it was LS. They kept telling me it was a fungal rash. Once it was diagnosed and started using clobetasol the redness went away. I know the waiting part is hard but keep good thoughts. I was very scared and worried also until biopsy finally showed what was wrong. I don't know why they wait for so long to do biopsy! Good luck??

Thanks for your reply. It makes me feel a bit better. Everyone seems to describe white patches which I don't have. I'm also red all over, the edges of my outer labia, inside and now my vaginal opening is red and tender! How long did it take for the clobetasol to work. I've been using it 2 weeks and no joy yet!

Hi Raw50 I've been where you are and was so uncomfortable and couldn't even stand to Lee I was so bad before I got diagnosed over 10 years ago. Recently i have read lots on here and i started using borax, its foind in the laundry isle or you can purchase from Amazon if your abroad. I use a teaspoon in a sitz bath every day for 20 minutes. I've had no symptoms now in a month. I will continue to do this daily. I recently hurt my knee so set to,g for any length of time has kept me from doing my daily regimen and I can tell you the stinging is back some. As long as I do this daily I function as a normal woman. Doing ALL our daily duties! I hope this will or can help some. Please keep me updated. (My urologist was amazed how I was becoming unfused and asked what I was using and she was like I love home remedies)

      Best of luck.

It took a couple of weeks using clobetasol twice a day. W hen I went to LS specialist she decreased clobetasol to two times a week and gave me estrace to use on red area on inner labia. I used this twice a week also but on different days then clobetasol and that helped red area greatly. In fact it got to the point that it healed and I no longer need to use estrace. Hope this helps.

It doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Mind you the gynaecologist did mention something about vaginal oestrogen. I've been referred to a vulval dermatologist just waiting for appointment, going to have a list of questions for him!!

Hi, I feel as if a miracle has happened to me. I have had LS for 30 years. A month ago I started to use a mixture of 4 tablespoons of ORGANIC castor oil, 2 DROPS Lavender Essence Oil and 1 DROP of Lemon Grass Essence Oil at night after my shower. I haven't had an itch for a month which for me is just unheard of. I can still hardly believe it and am holding my breath that this feeling of well being will continue. I have always been told to shower and not bath and to wash my private parts with tepid water and dry with a hairdryer. I also use non perfumed soap and toilet paper. I have read a couple of people saying that this mixture burns them so it is VITALLY important not to exceed the drops of the essence oils. I certainly haven't had any burning feeling at all and I was very careful with the ingredients of the mixture.

I am so pleased to hear that. I still just can't believe that I am feeling so good. I keep on waiting for the itch and nothing happens!! It's easily over a month now. I wish I had thought of looking online before this..... like 30 years ago!! I had to go to a Health shop for the Organic castor oil, must be Organic. Pretty pricey but it will last a long time. I used quite a small dropper for the essence oils. I used the dropper I had in the house with my eye drops. Some people have commented that it "burns" and I wonder if they either used a bigger dropper or exceeded the number of drops. I certainly haven't felt any burning whatsoever. In fact it feels good. Good luck and please let me know how it goes sometime down the line. smile

I had horrible itching for about a year and a half but really none of the other symptoms. Clobetasol made the itching unbearably worse. I finally saw a post on here where a girl found that the toilet paper she used (which she wet) was the cause of her major issues. She started using organic and stopped wetting and symptoms went away. I started thinking back and realized I had started using cottonelle wipes shortly before the itching first started, which led to my diagnosis. (I had been trying many other things to stop the itch and thought staying clean with the wipes would help!) I stopped using them and my itching dissappeared within a day and hasn't been back. That was about 8 months ago. It did not cure me but stopped the constant itch that was horrible. I use coconut oil everyday at least once, more if I don't feel right, and so far no fusing or white spots. My fiancé and I also use it as our lubricant and it is awesome!  I hope something in my story helps. Oh and by the way, my dr didn't really believe me about the steroid cream making the itch 10x worse!
