Good morning 😊 Ibe just been told I need a THR and awaiting to go on the waiting list, I'm obviously in pain while sleeping, and looking at buying a u pillow (maternity pillow). I'm wondering if any one else has used one and are they any good? Thank you x

Hi , I havnt used a maternity pillow for a while but it was certainly helpful for supporting a pregnant bump at night so there's no reason not to try one . When I was waiting for my Thr ( I'm now 2 weeks post op ) I slept with a normal pillow under my knees and when I wanted to turn on my side I put it between my knees . Worth a try if you haven't already ? Also I assume you're taking pain killers before bed ? Best of luck with your op .

Hi I got a slumber pillow but I think an ordinary pillow is just as good although I had to sleep on my back for six weeks before lying on my side

    Hi

Like you I have been told I need a THR but I am now on the list with pre-op booked.  I have been reading these forums for a few weeks and decided to purchase one of the maternity/bolster pillows. I got it off a well known online auction site for just over a tenner.  It came with a pillow case and its 6ft long.  It's fantastic, I am definitely able to sleep better on my side using it.  I think I will also purchase one of the V shape pillows for after surgery when I'm sleeping on my back.

Good luck, I hope you get some dates soon, I really had to push, I'm in Cornwall.

Hi, I use a body pillow, which supports your whole body when lying on your side, you put it between your legs so it keeps the leg straight, when lying on my back I put it under my knees. My hip replacement was last October and I find this helps a lot.

    Good luck.
