uc remission question

My name is savanah and I was diagnosed with uc at 3 years old. I am now 20 and have been in remission for 12+ years. I am curious as if my uc has gone away? Or what my chances are of relapse? My doctors told me I would have a colostomy bag by the time I was 16 so it scares me because I feel like I could relapse at any moment. THanks to anyone who can answer me (:

I was diagnosed with UC at 25.  After  few weeks in hospital I recovered and didn't have any serious problems with UC for the next 30 years.  So you may never get a relapse. Forget it and enjoy life.  I feel that trying to reduce stress in my life helped.

It's possible that as you were so young that you may have recovered as your body has grown, on the other hand a flare can come out of nowhere but even if it did you wouldn't immediately have a colostomy, if at all, so my advice would be stop stressing about it, as we know stress can be a trigger and live your life, you had illness throughout your childhood so enjoy your twenties, eat a healthy balanced diet, exercise regularly, try not to burn the candle at both ends too much ( difficult not to at your age!) and get checked regularly even if you feel well. Remember, it's not life ending just life adjusting.
