Hi
Have got to the stage where I am considering surgery something I said I wouldn't ever do. Am steriod dependant 30mg per day Entyvio ever 8 weeks due my 8th in February Ascol Azathioprine. Will surgery stop me feeling so low all the time as well as stopping bleeding, pain, urgency. Really not sure if mentally I can cope with the pain etc after surgery and dealing with bag etc. Have low self esteem at the best of times also worried about my job as have been told can not have key hole as had previous surgery (spleen removed) so have scar tissue quoting 8/10 weeks before being fit again and looking at pictures on the net it all seems raw. Just so scared of what to choose and so alone.

Thanks alot guys really appreciate your replys. The dummy stoma sounds really good. I've known deep down for a while that it's inevitable that il end up with a bag thats when my wife says why prolong it. If its going to make you better and you will get your life back then go for it. I agree if i was single with no kids it would be alot worse but fortunately im in a good place family wise. I think il mention the dummy stoma next time i go for my infusion and see what they say. Ive been telling them im fine every time i go incase they made me have the bag and i wernt ready but i think im ready now. My bloods aren't normal anymore and i always get infections

Take your time thinking about it Jason, maybe ask to see the stoma nurses first and speak with them as they would be the best people to ask about the dummy and they will show you all the things you need.....they are really supportive! But don't rush into it unless you really need to. ?

Yeah I know what you mean, my Consultant at the time always recommend for surgery but he knew I hadn't got my head around it so did offer me a very last option but by then I was so fed up and not left the house for 5 months I just said do it....but still had doubts, that's when he called the Surgeon and I asked questions. I think sometimes you just know, this is it, I need surgery and it really has been the best thing.
The first few weeks of recovery is hard I won't lie and in hospital, you think why did I do this but after that it's amazing.
Only you can know what is right for you!
if only someone would make all our decisions!
Good luck. ?
