ulcer on Bunion

Search results for “I have an ulcer which has developed on my bunion,so far it has barely broken the skin to the size of mm, I am on antibiotics for the past week and wonder should I continue on another 6 day dosage.I have a lot pain with it and am wearing thong sandals to avoid any pressure, is there anything else I can do and how long does it take to heal,I am in my late sixties, no diabetis and otherwise good health tho this is getting me down at this stage, now into the 3rd month neutral

    cathy6, I am checking up on your condition to see if there has been any improvement, if not maybe together we can figure something out that will help you, I am not a medical professional just someone who suffers with a leg ulcer that I have been through a couple of years of treatment, skin graph which failed and on my own have been able to make progress in healing my wound without help from the doctors.

    Many thanks for your reply, I was lucky in that I was seen by a wounds nurse who told me what to do..ulcer has to heal from underneath , I had been letting a scab form, which isnt the correct thing to do, but she gently removed the scab and applied an iodine dressing, this I did myself every second day for few months ( luckily had been given few packs of iodine dressings) and it worked ,ulcer is gone.

    I am now waiting for a bunion op but yet to see specialist,I have difficulty wearing shoes even the widest,and am so worried in case the ulcer breaks out again as skin is so fragile,I had gone to specialist who then told me her had operated on few bunions but wasnt an expert and has referred me to another specialist, this will be after Christmas when I finally got an appointment, so after almost a year I am hopefully near a resolution

    Hi Cathy

    hoping you can advise me, since November last year I have been getting a little soreness on my my bunion, I have been on 4 lots of antibiotics also shoes are sooo painful, my chiropractor looked at the sore tried to lance it and nothing came out the bunion itself does not hurt just this little sore that is on the side of the bunion
