Ulcer on my lip

I've got a big ulcer on the inside of my lip when I accidentally bit it - I've tried bonjela because its advertisements says it puts a "cover" over it to help it heal - but it doesnt because it comes off when i make saliva which takes off the "cover" so then its exposed again
Im at a point where I want to get a sharp point & try to open it up to try & get any stuff out of it or carefully cutting it off
Has anyone ever had something similar -would this be a doctor's matter or a dental matter

In my opinion, I would just use a salt water rinse. I know that helps heal cankers, so why not an ulcer?
Anyway, best of luck. Try not to open it, as more infection may follow.

Hi SaraJo,
Salt is the best healer for any mouth problems, mix 1/2 teaspoon with warm water and stir in. Never try to open anything or you'll get infection in it.

Thanks so much for the advice -much obliged. - when social distancing & stay at home rules have been lifted I may try & make a dentist appointment to see what they could do as well as the salt advice -if they say its a doctors issue then I'll try & get one then
What are cankers?? -I wont open it
