Ulcerative colitis.

It's seems like this is what I have.

Tried Enbrel no change. And only time my bowels are normal is when I am on prednisone. Have a GI doc appt Friday.

However since it is not official yet, my RA doctor is putting me on a RA dosage of every other wk.

Vs the initial large dosage for UC.

Waiting to see GI doc

Will this still work or do I have to take the intial dosage for this to work and then go to the every other wk.

Thanks.

Aimee

Amy: It sounds like you are in distress and having anxiety. Your final question in your note can only be answered by your doctor. Do you have a friend who can help you through this difficult time? The best of care to you.

    hi Amy

I also have inflammatory bowel disease--crohns.  So I see the RA specialist and the Gi doc.   My decision was to go with the lower dosage of humira which is RA treatment and not the 4 injections of initial humira for the bowel condition.  My choice although I had to talk both docs into that one.   Turns out with  the Humira  I only gave injection twice and then got resp infection although not terrible enough to go to hospital    Waited a month and gave 3rd humira and had side effects of palpitations,  lightheadedness/ shaky feeling , elevated blood sugar.  So I am glad I made the decision on the 1 injection initial dose.  With regard to the RA and GI symptoms., pain was decreased after the first 2 shots,  no change in bowel pattern.

Going to see a cardiac doc to make sure something else is not causing the side effects I experienced.  The doc seems to think that the symptoms are not humira related.   My firm belief is that humira caused the side effects.  But don't let me discourage you,  many people have had great relief from humira.   The protocol is the 4 injections the intial dose of humira for you so they must have done many studies to come to that conclusion.  Good luck,  let us know how you are doing

Probably will try Enbrel but I wonder if I can't tolerate the humira I probably will not be able to tolerate another.  Have to give it a try though

I think Timothy just had your best interests at heart,  that he meant well.

      Thank you. Appreciate the info.

I don't have side effects w Enbrel.. a little nausea. But Enbrel is not given for Crohns or IBS.

My dad is on Cimzia and that seems to have worked great for him. But my insur won't give it till I try humira first.
