Hi Helen. Yes I have experienced this during a flare up. Because UC is an inflammatory contition it can effect other parts of the body, joints being one of them. I was told to stay clear of ibuprofen like medications, stick to paracetamol. Hope this helps.

Hi Helen. I too was told to stay clear of anything with ibuprofen in if you have colitis, as it makes things worse. I take 3 x 500 paracetomol OR sometimes 30mg/500 cocodomol + another 500 paracetomol caplet depending how bad pain is. I do get more aches during a flare- backache, joint aches, stomach ache. Think it goes hand in hand with the condition. I only take painkillers on an as needed basis if I really cant tolerate the pain, as not great to take them all the time. cocodomol is effective for pain for me & doesnt even make me constipated if I only have one dose in a 24hr period, but my colitis & ibs-d is diarrea dominant rather than constipation. hope this helps. x
