Umbilical hernia mesh removal doctor in London suggestions?

Posted , 18 users are following.

I've been living with pain for 2 years now after having umbilical hernia surgery from the mesh placed.

I've tried two different versions of Rectus sheet blocks for control the nerve pain. Both with little to no help.

I'm strongly considering having the mesh removed but I want to talk to a surgeon that specialises in just removing meshes. There is a lot of discussions about that in the forums here but I can't seem to find the names when I look through them.

Can someone suggest a London based surgeon that they have had the surgery with and how the surgery went after they had the mesh removed?

I just want to be a normal human being again. It's been really tough.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I met Simon Bailey from Kim’s hospital and he is amazing, he will take his time and consider things before jumping in, a very considerate surgeon unlike the ones that out is here in the first place.

In relation to the nerve pain as my illoinguinal nerve was cut due to necrosis of a staple used in the mesh on the nerve this pain is bad but don’t panic there are many options that will help.

Moving the cut higher up is the last resort so first try this

Dr Platt wellington hospital does what’s known as nerve ablation, he says injections are a waste of time and short lived, he done a nerve ablation on my nerve and took the pain from 10/10 to 4/10, I’m going to go for another session. Make no mistake it hurts but it is short lived.

If that doesn’t work try again, and if it still does not work then surgeons like Simon Bailey can move the cut higher but also I’d recommend seeing a nerve surgeon that is an expert, Marco Sinisi from wellington as well.

Those 3 guys are amazing realy, combined together they will make things work out, simon does not know marco or sr platt by the way. 😂.

Anyway as for the other so called expert hernia surgeons be careful they are too quick to place mesh bang staples in that cause critical damage.

I will be starting a website soon naming and shaming those surgeons that choose to act like cowboys for a quick buck so we can all review them freely and support each other.

Guys take up meditation using the calm app or headspace and stay strong.

By the way my mesh was removed by Ulrike Muschaweck who is also reknowed for dealing with the professional footballers, and complex hernia case ofnmesh removal but I was not aware of Simon prior otherwise I would have seen him as he has been taught by the best, Peter jones....... and based in the UK so insurance would cover it.

    Stay strong

    Hi Esoteric

Sorry to hear about your situation.

    Im in the same boat.!

Although i had 2 lots of mesh put in for hernia repair in 1996

Nothing but problems since, some of which are now major!

Ive spent years trying to get someone to listen and now i finally have, but again theyre reluctant to remove the mesh

As you say, and i really feel your pain, but i also want to feel normal again.

Being in pain every single day is no fun at all and most people dont understand.

    Hope you get sorted out
