I had terrible pain for about a month when I finally found out that it was TN. By that time, the symptoms had started to subside. It is hard to tell if the meds I was prescribed (Carbamazipine) were working, or if it was the fact that the TN was going into remission.

At that time, although the meds made me tired, it did seem to help with the pain.

For now, follow your doctors orders and hopefully you will get relief.

I am most frustrated by not knowing when it will come back, and how long it will last. When it does, I may opt for a surgical fix.

You can go to an ER even if the pain is subsided. They will get you medication for the time.being.
