unbelievable pain with shingles I'm 43 and female.

started with pain in back and lower abdomen and it radiatated round under my left breast, the pain is horrible, I can't sleep at night and have stay sat up. my left lung area hurts so much.It was first thought I had a lung infection, and I was given antibiotics, on the 8th day of feeling unwell I've developed a sore cluster rash. The doc has said it's shingles and now given me anti viral drug 800mg aciclovir to be taken 5 times a day. And also some Amitriptyline for the nerve pain. The pain is unbearable while i sit here writing this its radiating around my lung area under my left breast and into my back around the rash. I don't no what to do with my self.

    I can understand your pain. Being 32 yrs old undergoing lot of stress and anxiety this thing caught me.

    I am recovering with my shingles . I got rash and blisters a month back and I had similar pain.

    I went to ER as I was having excruciating pain on my Right side. It was like cramps coming out of nowhere. Well they found nothing and gave me some NSAIDs

    Well my GP is smart enough to figure out possibility of Shingles. Just waited for blisters and they came out.

    **This forum has all information. **Though they didnt bother to answer my query 😃 but I would suggest you to trust your doctors medicines . You may get bouts of Pain so check if you can use some Lindocaine patches or cream ( amazon has it somewhere around $6-8$ )

    Reading too much on these forums trains our mind to think in that way. Read limited Positive information. More negative you read your mind is going to make it happen in real as if you asked it to do it.

    Pain Management is important. I know its really easy to tell someone to do meditation and Yoga and listen to some soothing music but Emma I will tell you this works. I have gone through this pain and still undergoing it but somehow we need to train our mind.

    Take as much as rest for first few days. You will be alright.

    Ohh yeah one more thing I did order L-Lysin tablet which was recommened by many people on this forum . I am not sure if it did work but I am taking it on regular basis

    My symptoms started with around four days of feeling unwell could'nt put my finger on what was wrong. Then this horrendous pain started around my left shoulder blade. I thought i had strained a muscle. I went to see a sports massage therapist but the pain continued. After three weeks i went to see my doctor who diagnosed Shingles even though i had no rash and no itching. The pain raidiates around my shoulder blade and side and into my breast. I told the dr this and he said the areas are all on the same nerve line. The pain in my breast is not good. Very uncomfortable. The shoulder blade pain seems to be going. I was given antiviral meds and Amitryptoline. Awful stuff! made me lose the plot. Dr changed meds to Tramdol. Again horrible reaction! Then i was given Co-codamol which sent my body into five hours of twitching and not being able to keep still. My main concern is this breast pain. Do I assume its pain coming from the nerves? Any ideas? I feel a bit alone with this as its impossible to get to see the dr again because of Covid restrictions.

    hello, my mom (76 yrs old) got misdiagnosed with contact dermatitis 5 days in due to the rash and a sad excuse for a dr. No test. A couple of er visits, ring worm diagnosis by that idiot and 2 months later finally got to see her dr who said 'ya shingles' heres some cyclobensaprine and morphine refill. Still no test- muscle spasms from hell and thats all they can do. 😑

    After 2 more weeks i finally had enough and publicly voiced my disgust with the dr ofc and got a call back, got gabapentin then got to a pain specialist wanting to do pain block injections right away(mom wanted info first). They told her to stop the gaba and they would call in a new med. med not called in- 2 days of hell- she did take the med she had when the scrip wasn't in. Another week, physical therapy appointment (useless due to pain not controlled). Phys. therapist tells us she was approved for mri. finally get that a few days later. no call back from pain dr. after 2 weeks. just disgusted.

    5 months in ....

    looking for anything that can help. I had read a "natural treatment " dealing with immune system but can't find it again.

    Difficult to find any treatments other than common ones from drs. I came on here to see what anyone else had done to relieve their symptoms.

    I do hope and pray everyone gets relief and is healed fast.
