Glad to hear that you are feeling better are you sleeping at night because that could be the cause and what strength are you on. I have been on mine for about 7 weeks and I still get tired.

Well I just lie there and toss and turn, and wait for the alarm to go off and then I do not want to get up! It is not that great! but I am not that panicy, but I do feel sort of impending doom, I dont shout at my daughter so much though!! but I am too tired to do anything else!!!! however I am taking them now on the doctors orders at circa 7.00pm so I am hoping that will maybe level it all out and I wont be so tired all the time.

When I started Sertraline recently I started waking up after ~ 4-5 hours without the ability to fall asleep again.

A few things have helped with this side effect :

    1. I sleep with an air conditioner on. This provides a hypnotic sound which helps me drift off.

    2. I take 2 mg of Lorazapam (benzodiazapene) before bedtime. I have been taking this drug for years (as needed for insomnia and muscle relaxation due to a neurological disorder).

The bottom line is that if you are not sleeping you are basically damaging your brain. The anxiety is also exacerbated by the loss of sleep.

As I have just started the drug this week I am hoping that taking the Lorazapam will only be necessary temporarily until the Sertraline kicks in and makes sleep easier.

I had been taking 50mg for a about a month, and yes i was yawning all day long and had no energy to do anything- even when i slept 12-15 hours a night...so my doctor put my dose up to 100mg and the opposite effect occured- my mind was racing, filled with panic/anxiety and negativity, to the point where i couldn't sleep...can't win!!!

    Hi there

I have been on Sertaline for 2 weeks and the first week I did nothing but yawn! I have never been so tired in my life. Sleep patterns were disrupted too and I am a person who likes 8 hours sleep a night so that was a nightmare

The second week I went up to 100mg and that has stopped the yawning and incredible tiredness in the day. I am still tired but that is because of the tossing and turning all night. This is getting better though and I am generally sleeping through until 3 or 4 so as long as I go to bed early it is ok. Lavender oil on the pillow helps, as does chammomile tea and some relaxing visulisation/meditation before bed.

    Good luck

I have been taking it for 6 weeks now and I have no problems with tiredness. I did for the first week but it is fine now. I take them first thing I get up in the morning so that I don't forget and also because I want them to be active while I am awake (if that makes sense). They have helped me tremendously but you do need to a). stick with them and b). try not to think about the whole thing too much - just take them in the morning and forget it and get on with your life. My problem was both depression and OCD so I know how it can get if you keep going over things - so don't!

    Hope this helps!
