Uncomfortable eye, dull headaches, now nausea and sore neck.

Hi,

I'm not usually one to turn to the Internet to talk about medical conditions, but I'm getting a little concerned about my health, as I've been having symptoms lasting for almost 2 months now. That may not seem long to a lot of people, but I'm generally a healthy person who gets over ilnesses quickly. This will be a detailed post, but I shall post a shortened version at the end.

A little bit of basic information:

- 27, Male

- Non-smoker

- Non-drinker

- Suffer from the occasional migraine (Used to be more frequent)

- Suffer from IBS

- Mild hay-fever

Almost two months ago, my left eye started to feel a little uncomfortable, on the upper left side. It wouldn't shift, so I went into a walk-in clinic as I had not re-registered with my normal doctor after moving back to my hometown. They checked my blood pressure, everything was fine, and they then referred me to the eye casualty. I went along the next day, had the eye drops, full scans, blood pressure check and eye tests. There were no signs of damage to the eye, my blood pressure was fine and I passed the eye test easily enough. All was well.

The next day, I developed a headache. I get headaches fairly regularly because of my odd sleeping habits (I often stay up to weird hours), so I thought nothing of it. A few days passed, and my eye was still uncomfortable and my headache was not shifting. This headache was mostly focused above the left eye (The one that was uncomfortable). It was only a dull headache and was more of a minor nuisance than anything. It felt worse when I would bend over and would be there the instant I woke up.

I went back to the walk-in clinic and was told it could be a variant of migraine headaches, but was just hanging around for a while. I had my blood pressure checked, again, and it was fine. Off I went again. Shortly after that, I started to get a fairly strong light-headed sensation. One day was particularly bad. There was a time where, for several days in a row, my eye uncomfortability and headache had almost completely receeded. But they then came back.

I saw my normal doctor after finally being re-registered, and mentioned my light-headedness, even though that sensation had mostly gone and it was back to the eye and head problems. Again, I had my blood pressure checked which was fine once more. He told me it could be a form of vertigo and gave me some tablets to take. These gave me stomach pains, so I stopped taking them. He didn't seem interested in the head or eye pains at all, but he was sure it was nothing sinister.

Things had been going on for about a month by this point. I'm sure those who have had an almost constant headache for a month will understand how distracting it can get. I feel for those with much worse conditions.

Anyway, things stayed pretty much the same for the next couple of weeks, so I decided to make another appointment as there was no sign of my eye or head improving. I saw a different doctor, and she also took my blood pressure. As usual, it was fine. I asked about pressure behind my eye when eating certain foods, and she said it's probably just a reaction to the cheese. She expressed that she didn't think anything sinister was going on and told me to take low doses of a tablet called Amitriptyline as she thought I could be suffering from a tension headache combined with possible eye-strain.

Since then, I've had another period where my eye and head seemed fine, but the symptoms then returned. I've also had my left eye stinging (Comes and goes), the whole left side of my head having a burning sensation (Lasted 1 night), a dull pain across the top of my head, a weird sensation between my eyes, causing both eyes to become a little uncomfortable (Again, mainly along the eye-lid area), and minor chest pain that's short lived. I had my chest scanned (The one with the stickers) last summer, and it came up clear.

Now I'm back to feeling light-headed. I'm on the 3rd day of light-headedness. I also felt very nauseous the instant I woke up, today. The base of my throat feels weird and I'm burping/coughing a lot, but I have no difficulty in breathing or swallowing. The left side of my neck sometimes hurts, but I'm not sure if that's from an awkward sleeping position or something else. On the plus side, I can barely notice any eye uncomfortably or head pains, although my eyes were stinging quite badly in in the middle, under the eyelids, last night before sleeping.

That brings me up to the current time. I have a phone appointment with my doctor early next week. Should I push for any sorts of tests? Should I just ride this out? If anyone has ANY help they can offer me, I will be hugely grateful, as this is starting to become a hinderance.

Shortened version:

- Started with left eye uncomfortability. No signs of eye damage.

- Dull headache develops over left eye. Is there the instant I wake. Feels worse when bending over.

- Headache mostly stays to one side. Occasionally shifts. Occasionally have pain across whole head/across top of head.

- Have a period where eye and head feel mostly fine.

- Pain comes back.

- Have light-headed spell that disappears after a couple of days.

- Left eye becomes a little worse. Stinging pain comes and goes.

- Weird sensation between my eyes, making both eyes uncomfortable.

- More light-headedness, currently lasting 3 days.

- Woke up today feeling very nauseous.

- Odd feeling in base of throat, but no difficulty in swallowing or breathing.

- Had multiple blood pressure tests, but all come back normal.

Sorry for the really long message, but I am getting a little desperate to get this sorted.

Thank you for your time, and for any help.

Steve.

I forgot to mention that resting my head on my hand would often make the uncomfortability in my eye feel worse. Also, the pain would sometimes spread around most of the eye socket, but this has been quite rare.

Even more information (No way to edit posts?). There is a bug going around here at the moment, where people have been feeling sick and light-headed. Not sure if I've caught that and it's unrelated, or if it is related to what I already had.

Hi. Did you ever find out what was causing your health problems?  I have been experiencing similar symptoms. Weird pain in left eye, left sided headache and pain at top of neck on left side.
