I don't know what to do I was given zoloft 50mg for ptsd and general anxiety mixed with some depression. . I have yet to try it. Because I've been taking Xanax for over 8 years and now it doesn't help like it did.. It will calm me down and help with sleep but I wake up anxious and low mood and lack of motivation , overly emotional at times for no reason. I want to start this medicine but I'm afraid of having bad side effects. Part of my anxiety is fear! & fear makes me stay away from taking anything new.. what can I do to over come and try this medicine? I'm am afraid of everything all i think about is dying, I can't be in public or around to many people at once it has taking over my life i have a wonderful husband but I'm afraid he's going to leave because I can't really be engaged in the marriage or living life. Nor can I work or attend school. Please anyone know how I'm feeling any positive feed back would be a blessing. Thanks for reading my story..hope those like me we all find a healthy balance happy life .

Have you tried 5-htp and magnesium? It may be worth trying this before sert. Sert should be an extreem last resort as its so hard to get off. Jim carey blogged about 5-htp. Have a look.

Im day 12 of going cold turky on sert. No been pleasant as all but the above supliments have nearly completly eased my anxity.

    Hi meleka

I was in the same situation as you before taking Zoloft. My anxiety always flares up when I have to try new medication and I work myself up before I've even taken it. Just keep pushing forward as there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

I think you just need to keep telling yourself that the side effects last a week or 2 and what you feel when you come out the other side will outweigh the bad so much more! You can do it! You can get through the few rough days.

There is a massive support network on here that has really helped me! You can ask any questions you like even if you think they're silly and some one will help you out.

I'm on day 4 of the medication and I hate the side effects but I'm counting down the days to feeling better!

Keep your chin up and be really strong!

The medication has helped some many people return to feeling like their old selves it's worth the shot.

I also find it helps to tell myself that the doctors wouldn't prescribe me zoloft to take if it wasn't going to help me in the long run.
