Who has been on methotrexate injections? What side effects if any have you had. I have been advised to try the methotrexate injections.

I've switched over to injections and and it has helped quite a bit with feeling sick although I still do take cyclazine.

I still get the mtx hangover for a couple of days though

Only side effect till a couple of weeks ago was dry skin and slight bruising at injection site. Then told liver function results eat too high. Came off for two weeks and level went back to normal (I had been on methotrexate a year).Back on injections and due blood test to see if ok.Mind you I am on a high dose of 25mg/week

I switched over a few weeks ago, and like already said, has massively helped with sickness, only feel very sick day after then generally ok, but the 'meth fog' lasts a bit longer - couple of days! And my hair is falling out more :-(

But overall preferable to tablets. Am on 15mg weekly x

I am on 25mg injection. I think my body has adjusted now as hardly any side effects.

I've been on 1 cc of it for many, many years. I'm also on Sulfasalazine and have been on a millon other drugs, but this is a constant. It worked better for me than pills. May make you tored at first, but it goes away. mUnfortunately, I can't live without it.

I began injections at 10 mg.  now taking 15 and hope i get moved up again.Have zero side effects...no fog..no sickness.  I still have lots of stiffness, but I really hope the mtx is doing the job of slowing down progression of the disease.  Good luck.

I take 20mg per week by injection, and I have no side effects. The first month or two I had some nausea and diarrhea, but now nothing. I'm very happy with it. Good luck!

I took MTX injections for two years. No side effects except my own dislike of injecting yellow fluid. Reverted to tablets when my belly cleared up.

I assume the same yellow substance is in the tablets? I know what you mean tho. I had a mishap once and yellow gunk everywhere!

Yes I assume so, tho my tablets are pink and green. For some unknown reason I was a bit phobic about the yellow. Nothing actually wrong with it.

Hi Jennifer . I haven been mxt tabs for the last 2 yrs Initially had some small hair loss and anxiety kicked in on a major level . Once I had that under control only side effects I had were some minor stomach upsets . On the plus side was very effective .Recently back to rheumatologist as flare ups following carpal tunnel surgery .Decided to swop to injections as more effective . . Dosage down to 10 mg and first self injection last week So far no side effects so fingers crossed it starts reducing flares..Am thrilled to avoid taking more tablets as there is only so much my stomach can handle.

    Best of luck to you

Hi Jennifer. I took some pantub when on tablets.

You can buy a lower dose is chemist but

I was prescribed by GP. To be honest not sure it should be mixed with

      Methotrexate.

Thankfully just passed week 3 of methotrexate injections and

      no stomach issues from injections

Finding the injections so much better than pills . Hit with fatigue really bad one week

But this week as gone well .fingers crossed .

      Take care Sinead
