**i was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid over 20 years ago.i felt better taking thyroxine but never felt great.after visiting a naturapathic doctor this year in canada ( i live in uk ) ,i tried natural porcine dessicated thyroid replacement.i felt even worse.whilst there i had more intensive blood tests taken and the conclusion reached was that i swung from overactive to underactive **THE naturapathic doctor had never experienced this in a patient and i am wondering if there are other people who have this problem and how they are treating it.i also took T3 for a while and i think i did feel better than i do now.my GP Says that it is no longer prescribed here in northern ireland.I am at a loss as to what to do now so would value any advice.

    Hi

you say "you swung from over active to under active", are you sure you do not mean the other way round.

If you were taking thyroxine and then porcine, you would have had been treated for under active thyroid and if you were then taking too much it could have caused you to go over active.

To know what is really going on you would need to post you blood results with the ranges.

Be aware though some Doctors say we are over active if our TSH is suppressed, but to be truly over active our T4 and T3 would have to be above the top of the range.
