Undiagnosed balance disorder

Hi all, just wondering if anyone on here is experiencing the same as me?

Just over a year ago I experienced my first episode of vertigo and nystagmus.

I was off work for almost a month feeling just awful. The vertigo has always been

There since then but manageable. Inearly July I ended up in hospital

Because I was really bad again. I have not been able to work since. My balance is terrible.

I am not so much dizzy as off balance and can't walk very far. I had a balance today and

Have been informed I have lost the balance is my left ear. No firm diagnosis

Given though. My problem is mainly my balance and coordination. I struggle

With the most menial of tasks every day. Anyone out ytjhere in the same boat? I have just

Applied for PIP as a friend recommended I should. No idea if I can get this help or not.though.

Would welcome any advice and interested to hear your experiences

Yes computer/tablet/phone all seem to cause me problems after 10-15 minutes. Quite frustrating. I have had to limit watching the TV now too.

Saw Neurologist today who confirmed MRI shows no lesions hence clear for MS. Has decided I have a marked stiffness to my gait and wonders whether I have a back/neck problem on top of no balance in my left ear. She is sending me for MRI for spine and neck now. ENT appt next Monday to find out more from my actual balance tests. Anyone finding this a familiar scenario?

Hi Dawn, Your story is very similar to mine. After the initial attack of rotary vertigo and vomiting my balance recovered. Mine started a long time ago though but for several years it wasn't properly diagnosed as Menieres Disease because I didn't feel normal in between attacks. I have now lost almost all hearing and balance function in one ear and the GP now refers to it as Menieres.
