Undiagnosed herpes - help appreciated

Hi all,

First post but wanted some help. I started off with a sore throat about 2 & a half weeks ago this then turned into almost the flu mainly tiredness nausea cold fever literally just wanted to sleep.

Around the same time I started to get itching and soreness below, I'm prone to get water infections so thought it was the onset of this I was going away so I went to the doctors gave a urine sample & asked them to give me the tablets as usual before I went away however they couldn't seen any sign of a water infection so sent me away with nothing.

Then when I got on holiday I noticed I had a blister down below and thought maybe it was an ingrown hair that had become infection a couple of a day's later and I had about ten blisters below of which I couldn't even walk they were so painful.

I went to the chemist abroad and got some anti itch cream and antiseptic to try to stop the spread I started to try and diagnose it and have come up with herpes, the blisters lasted about a week/ten days and however bad this sounds I saw that acyclovir treats herpes so I went to the pharmacy abroad and bought some and took 5 tablets for 5 days and it cleared it up along with the antiseptic!

So obviously I presume this is herpes? I have a new partner however don't think we have had unprotected sex but whatever I don't care about the cause it is what it is! But all my symptoms are that of someone suffering with herpes and it makes me think is that why I get lots of water infections?

So question 1. Do you think this is herpes??

Also the last few days I've had really bad nerve pain all down my legs, bum, ankles and feet feels like I'm sunburnt, sore to touch, half feels numb, hurts to lay down/sit - is like a throbbing pain and am also starting to feel this in my groin. Do you think this is related to the above? Any tips on how to settle this down?

I'm scared of what's to come considering how much pain I've been in and I suffer with depression/anxiety already so am worried this could set this off?

By the way I'm only 23 and I have never heard of anyone I know having this virus so all tips and help is widely appreciated!!! Thanks x x

Sorry that you are going through this but I do believe you have herpes. Your sxs sound so much like what I have and what I have been reading about. I am waiting the results if my test. Should get tomorrow. Go get tested. There is a lot of information on here that can help you.

I agree you have to go get tested I'm so sorry this is happening to you and so young but it's not the end of the world I promise. Before I found this forum I felt like the only one but there are so many people in the same situation as we are so keep your head up and stay strong. #??

Hey man, I am kinda in the same boat of you. I learned a lot about this in the past month, just wanna mention a few points.

In my opnion: Regardless of whether or not you got the virus, the thing you did, altough will prolong your testing window ! however is the best thing that has happened to you. I am refering to takin antivirals. this will greatly reduce the -possible- struggle with virus as you killed it while it has probably tinted only few nerve cells. you should be happy about that !

Have a blood test in about 4 months or if you get another outbreak, have it culture tested ASAP ! that is what you should do !
