Undiagnosed Lightheadedness

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hello, I’m a 32 yo male with type 1 diabetes and for the last 2 months I’ve experienced daily episodes of lightheadedness. I’ve seen an ENT, a neurologist and a cardiologist and all of them have found nothing. Now I’m not really sure what to do next. It’s been suggested to me that this could be due to anxiety and I am seeking help from a therapist but I still feel like there is a physical cause. I wanted to check if anyone else has had similar experiences and what other treatments they’ve seemed.

Get your gp's to refer you to a Neuro.otologist. a regular neuro as you saw deals with the brain primarily. They are not trained in the Vestibular System which the NO is. Same goes for ENT. They treat Ears Nose and Throat and don't have training in the Vest.System.

What's your blood pressure like? With Dizzyness and being light headed ,it can be drops in Blood pressure . Yes anxiety a big contributor and the stress this condition throws up . Get a BP monitor if needs be ,take it couple times a week ,and write readings down . Don't drink tea ,coffee or any stimulants 1/2 hour prior to taking BP ,see if there's a pattern on those days you don't feel good . Do you have tinnitus ? That can be a factor in it all . Keep a diary  then show it to your Dr especially as you've mentioned Diabetes 1 . Check see if any meds your on can be contributing to your symptoms . Pharmacist Id talk to where you pick up your meds from .

Hi Marlene. My blood pressure is normal. I even had a tilt table test which evaluates your autonomic system which regulates blood pressure. Everything normal.

I only take insulin for diabetes which I’ve been taking for 30 years so I don’t think that’s it either.
