Unexpected weightloss...

Hi,

Over the last 6 months or so I have lost 80 pounds without any sort of dieting.  I beginning to worry because I keep losing more weight regardless of what I eat.  My doctor ran tests (her major concern was stomach parasites?!) but they came back fine.  She didnt seem too concerned.

I am 6`1 and 6 months ago I weighed 260 pounds (I was a bodybuilder)

Now I am 180 pounds.  As for my diet- today I ate 3 bananas, 2 oranges. a bowl of cereal, a sandwhich (had cheese and pastrami in it), and a dish that consisted of baked zuchhinis, onions, potatoes, and diced tomatoes.

This is roughly what I eat everyday (I generally pre make my meals for the week and stay away from fast food/junk food as much as I can).

Am I eating too little?  Or should I ask my doctor for more tests?   Other than feeling weaker physical I feel perfectly fine (no fatigue or anything).  Am I just being a worry whart?  Any info is welcome.

I'm not a doctor or anything but it does sound like you may be worrying for no reason. Your doctor isn't concerned so it shows things must be ok.

your diet sounds extremely healthy and since your staying away from junk food you'd definitely lose weight. If i was in your shoes I'd be well happy lol.

Try not to stress, stress causes more problems to your wellbeing.

You say you were a bodybuilder.  Does this mean you are no longer and does that coincide with your weight loss?  I'm no expert but my bro-in-law used to train hard and compete regularly.  Since he stopped competing he has reduced his muscle bulk and even though he still eats very healthily, (like you) and still goes to the gym, his mass has reduced.  Maybe you just need to allow yourself time to become familiar with your new body type.  As Cookie-dough said, your doctor isn't worried so I don't think you should be either unless the weight loss continues to a point where you're becoming underweight.  I so wish I had your problem rather than my own!!  Keep up the good diet and don't be tempted to start eating crap.

Have you changed your diet or exercise regime? I would ask for a referral to a dietician to discuss your dietary needs. There must be a reason for your weight loss. Thyroid and diabetes can cause weight loss.
