Unexplained Chronic Vertigo

Posted , 7 users are following.

A few months after I turned thirteen, I suddenly became dizzy.  It hit very suddenly, with nothing to cause it.  I am now eighteen and am still living with very bad vertigo spells multiple times a day, every day.  I can't drive because the spells come on so rapidly with no precursor or cause.  The vertigo has taken over my life.

No, it isn't:

-BPPV

-Meniere's

-Vestibular Neuritis/Labyrinthitis

-An ear infection

-Any of the 'normal' illnesses associated with vertigo

I've done all the tests, and they've all come up negative for any of the regular diseases/illnesses which often cause vertigo.  Although I do have tachycardia and low BP.

Do you have any clue what's wrong?  It's going on five years, and my doctors have nothing to show for it.  Do you have any treatments that actually work?  Please share, especially if you are or have been in this situation.  Thanks.

I had all that and other crazy symptoms like electro shocks in my brain. No doctor found anything. Neurologist did additional tests for my brain. Cymbalta helped. I can live my life.

What is Cymbalta?  I am being treated for my dizziness with Nortryptyline, Cinnarizine and the odd tranquilliser.  I am still getting the dizziness so seeing my consultant on Wed.  I have had lots of tests so far.

How are your teeth? my vertigo has been triggered by a tooth infection, and wisdom teeth have been know to cause it too.

Have you have any neck injuries? i read an article about a muscle in the neck being to blame for some vertigo attacks (cervical vertigo)

Does anything in particular trigger it?

I have silent migraine.  That makes you dizzy all the time.  I dont often get the terrible headache but having seen endless ENT and two neurologists, that was my diagnosis.  I cant tolerate fluorescent lighting and everything sounds too loud.  Do you have that bit ?

I have been diagnosed with MRV ( migraine related vertigo) I feel dizzy most days but am not entirely convinced as I've never suffered from migraines or headaches much in my life and now this.

I have heard that wisdom teeth can cause this problem as well. Have you checked your blood? Low B12, Magnesium, or Iron can make you feel dizzy. Also look into Vertical Heterophoria which is an eye condition. Do you feel any better if you close one eye? Some people talk about Candida which is a Yeast issue.
