Unexplained recurring weakness and fatigue

My mother is 57. Once every 2-3 months she feels very weak and fatigue in her whole body and can't function.

She's seen many doctors and all their tests show she's perfectly healthy.

She doesn't smoke, doesn't drink alcohol, eats healthy, jog sometimes and she usually feels good but it just suddenly happens every few months.

What can it be?

Please help...

Your mother's best option is to continue to see a doctor face to face. No one can really diagnose something over the internet with any true accuracy, although there are websites that offer this facility with a charge, of which I am very sceptical. Is she doing extreme dieting and perhaps not getting enough fats and carbohydrates?

Hi. Two things. Has your mum seen a doctor/had tests while she is actually feeling at her worst? The other thing is to keep a daily diary of food and activity. When the symptoms appear check for any pattern or triggers. This has helped me greatly in the past with self diagnosis. You can then present your findings to the doctor and they take you a bit more seriously. Presumably they have checked the obvious things like blood sugar levels and done a full blood count? Good luck.  I know how frustrating it is to know there's something wrong and not be able to get to the bottom of it. Debbie

Have you asked for an ambulance at the time/taken her to A&E - or have you just seen a doctor later and reported it? I had intermittent atrial fibrillation - it made me feel quite ill but I didn't really feel my heart beating too fast. Since he couldn't find anything wrong the GP suggested calling 999 when I felt ill and although I never did, it does make sense: paramedics have ECG machines and often get an abnormal trace when they are called to a patient and then the hospital sees there was something wrong even though it is back to normal in A&E. They also do a blood sugar check

The above  is a good answer  I had this for a number of years including emergency incidents diagnosed as hiatus hernia and the  emergency call out not testing  or red flagging in my record .

This eventually lead to my heart attack - poor oxygen pumping .I had an  angioplasty to revive & have a cocktail of preventative medications but apart from my poor back, feel wel until I go to move l.

Hello, my mother is exactly going through same situation. Recurring weakness and all tests are absolutely fine. Even doctors are not able to diagnose. Only thing we found out is that her oxygen level drops some time to 87%. Could you please let me know if you were able to diagnose and what treatment is you got. Atleast we can tell doctor to move that direction. Thanks.
