I have recently been tested for recurring UTI. Had urine cytology, ultrasounds of kidney and bladder as well as a cystoscopy. Dr said all is fine. 6 days after the cystoscopy I am having all symptoms again. Very cloudy urine, blood in urine, burning, frequent urge to void, back pain and low grade fever.

Maybe you need low dose antibiotics. I'm on one a day Nitrofurantoin for 3 months. It worked for me before - the uti's didn't start back again for nearly 2 years.

Hello,
Did you have any side effects from the nitrofurantoin? I took this medication for 7-10 days and got back my infection the day after finishing and it made me feel ill (nausea) first five days of therapy.
I don't know if I'd try again, but your success story is very impressive and I'd be thrilled to go two years!! I will tell my doctor. Congrats

I'm lucky in that I never seem to suffer side effects with any medication, including Nitrofurantoin...
