Unhelpful GPs and needless costs! Help needed.

My wife recently had a telephone appointment with our local GP and explained that she is unable to eat, she struggles to move her jaw, feels dizzy and thinks it may be associated with her ear. He then interrupted her and said "this isn't an issue we deal with, you need to speak to a dentist." then ended the call. We've just had to pay £61 for an emergency dentist appointment where it was explained to us that it sounds as if it could be an ear problem or possibly a sinus problem. They did do x-rays and confirmed that it wasn't jaw or teeth related. What should we do? Could we be compensated for a wasted visit to the dentist? I would complain to the surgery but the GP we spoke to is one of the partners there.

I had a problem with my jaw also. It would lock open sometimes when I tried to eat. I had headaches and sometimes felt out of sorts. I went to a dentist who specializes in mandibular (jaw) problems. He found I had TMJ from a previously broken jaw. He prescribed a dental splint, which he made that I've worn for years .I don't have the problem anymore. Find a dentist who specializes in this. Good Luck To You.
