Unknown diagnosis

Hi. In past 9 months I have had Urticaria that lasted more than week, had difficulties in breathing several times, rush over my cheeks and nose that looked exactly like a malar rush and lasted for 2 weeks and at the same extreme pain in my knees and wrists. I have one lymph node at the back of my neck swollen all 9 months. Also, once my neck hurt for no reason that much that I couldn't move it and I had to stay in hospital for month and take NSAIL medications intramuscular. For urticaria, rush on my face and breathing problems I was under therapy with betametasone intramuscular every time about a week. Also, my Complements (C3,C4) are exactly on the lower border. But what confuses me is that my ANA titar is 0.50, and normal values are <1.50, so it's negative. Can it be than related to lupus, considering other symptoms, or not? Sorry for my bad English.

    Hi Nadia!

I was recently diagnosed with cutaneous lupus. I am new to the world of autoimmune diseases. What I know is that sometimes it takes time to show up in blood work.

In my case I had a terrible urticaria in 2009. Many symptoms of lupus and only now the diagnosis was done. It took 8 years. It is common to take about 7, 5 years. I have read about this.

My advice is: be attentive to your symptoms and to the possible triggers . Read as much as you can about AI. Find good doctors. And feel free to ask all your questions.

Hope this helps you in some way.

Yes I agree, the problem with a lot of these issues is a lack of reliable blood tests and that is what confuses the issue. If you are still symptomatic pursue a review by a specialist. Good luck.
