I have been dealing with this condition from a month or two , my Urologist has tried giving me various ointments and medicines for it but has not been able to diagnose what it is and what can be used to treat it . Please help. What kind of infection is this and what can be used to cure it.

I do not have any pain or itching , no burning while urinating , only symptom is that the inflamed area is sore when i touch it.

It would be best if you work with the Urologist to find the actual cure for this ...

If you do not trust the Urologist visit a different one ....

    Hi dhruv,

It would be helpful to know what tests you've had together with the results and the various treatments you've tried.

    Thanks,

I have had a urine test for UTI which came back negative . Not gotten tested for any STD because I'm not sexually active right now and also my urologist told me it does not seem like any STD.

For treatment my urologist has tried giving me T-Bact cream to apply while taking a course of antibiotics (Sulbacin), I took the meds very timely but it just decreased it a little, it did not go away fully , we have tried Neosporin ointment which I had an allergic reaction to and currently I have been told to apply Betnovate -C ointment .

    Dear dhruv,

Thanks for the information. I'd be inclined to "cross the t's and dot the i's" and to cover STDs by getting screened for gonorrhoea, chlamydia and mycoplasma as well as having a swab taken from the red area for herpes DNA.

    Rgds,

      Hi Adhari,

I have not had any sexual contact from past 1-1.5 years. Do you still feel I should get those tests done for STIs ? What else could it be ?

Gonorrhoea, chlamydia and mycoplasma would be less likely; herpes still a possibility because it's a persistent viral infection; i.e. you may have caught herpes months or years earlier but you're now experiencing symptoms. Other causes- trauma, allergy, sensitivity or local reaction to something applied next to it.

I have similar symptoms sometimes it completely disappears and again come back . it's not an infection but try getting a urethral swab test . if it's clear then it's just some allergy or irritation in that area that's what I feel because I have same symptoms since few months and am feeling better now hope it goes away , sometimes the body itself cause a problem and then recover back so may be it's something like tht

Having the exact same thing happen, not sexually active at all but have used toys.

I noticed mine started after I had what felt like a serious chemical burning sensation from old lubrication. Since then my urethra has been sore, and has this exact same look to it but on both sides.

Doctor's keep checking and don't seem worried but it comes and goes and can sting with intense pain. It feels/appears like some kind of infection. Currently applying a cream to Penis tip that is used for Balanitis just incase its fungal in nature, but we'll see.
