Unknown Medical Condition?

Greetings,

I am writing on behalf of another friend/co-worker...

From what she has described, she has gone from a fairly healthy person (use to kick box, swim) to someone with life hindering condition(s) (heart hurts, shortness of breath, body aches, etc.) that no doctor can provide a clear answer to...

I am limited on information, so I will go off of memory of past conversations and what she has told me.

The symptom's and detail's of what she is experiencing on and off are the following:

  1. Dry mouth/tightness and swollen red gums

(Drinks a lot of water, but continues to have dry mouth to the point that her lip is sticking to the top of her gums. Gum's are inflamed (present symptom). Dentist expressed that it is extreme inflammation and decay (she brushes and flosses regularly).)

  2. Pain in neck/arm/back

(Has been feeling body aches on her left side (present symptom) within these area's. In the past, this was on her right side after to a car accident. Was unable to turn her head to the right side for a while before physical therapy)

    3.Dizziness

(Has to lay down to have it pass (present symptom). I remember her speaking of an ear issue last year to which she felt like there was fluid within the ear (has since cleared up).)

  3. Heart hurts

(Has complained of her heart hurting. She has irregular palpitations and currently has had a procedure which a device was surgically entered in her chest to monitor the rhythm . This was done because when she went to the doctor about the symptom, the problem had cleared.)

  4. Defecation

(The doctor checked her colon because of concern of only going once a week. Especially eating food throughout the whole week. She was cleared for any cause of concern (was told this is her bowel movement schedule), but I am still adding this in just in case. )

  5. Shortness of breath

(She has gone from being active, kick boxing and other activities to having a hard time walking less than a half of a mile before having shortness of breath.)

  6. Tingling in the hands

(Has felt this on and off)

  7. Tiredness

(She has complained about fatigue, and tiredness)

She has learned to deal with the pain. (Doctor's have told her to take pain medication, but she wants answers more than temporary fixes) With that being said, she really is at her wit's end, and really didn't look good nor felt good the last time I saw her.

There may be more symptoms that I may have missed or disremembered at the moment. I just want to see if anyone has seen signs like this in order to provide some direction on what else can be considered.

She has been told by Doctor's that they see the issue, but don't have an explanation for it. She has gotten this from everyone including the Dentist that told her about her gums...

I appreciate anyone's feedback from what I have written. I am sure she will to.

It was suggested for her to go to the Mayo Clinic for review, but this is hard for she is a mother of 3 and a wife who is currently the bread winner since her husband has had to take a leave from work due to his accident. She simply cannot spend 6 months or so away from work nor her family at this time...

She is pushing through, but a person can only take so much....

Thank you in advance for reading and replying...

P.S.

I did plug in her symptoms into the symptom checker and here are the results: image

Thinking back to prior conversation, I believe so, but I can inquire again.

Why do you ask this or what made you ask this?

I had some of these symptoms and I was convinced I had a heart problem but I actually had a lung condition which was multiple pulmonary emboli. Ask if she had a d-dimer blood test or a chest CT with contrast, if she hasn't it may be something to explore

I'm a RN and with so many vague and conflicting signs and symptoms she really needs to to see a specialist physician.

How's her mental health as with such a stressful home and work life depression and anxiety can show themselves in a variety of ways.

Is there anyway anybody could help her with childcare, her husband will have to do more to help as it sounds like the poor woman is about to have a breakdown.

They're actually a good team! He is still recovering, but is recovering well. Therefore, he is able to take care of the home and the kids. So no external childcare is needed.

She isn't showing signs of depression or anxiety that I am knowledgeable enough to recognize.

Having gone to so many different doctor's, she is expressing more frustration of not having a clear answer as to what is going on.

With all that I have said, she is a strong person (something I admire). But with that being said, having the load of symptoms come on through these past weeks, has made her tired (in addition to work) and very frustrated.

This on and off again symptom dance has come and gone. When it comes on, it really comes on, which puts her into this state. When she feels good, she feels good with a pep in her step.

She recognizes when she has to break from doing her second job and obtains rest as needed. Even so, this is only a temporary fix.

Google thyroid issues and symptoms. Certainly sounds like she has a LOT of them. But surely her doctors should have checked by now. I hope she is properly diagnosed soon. Sounds like a nightmare. How she can take care of children while going through this is amazing, but she will end up exhausted and sicker if she doesn't get proper care. It's nice of you to try to help.

I will Google it, and read up! I appreciate it 😃

She is a kool person and I admire her for her strength and concern for my life. When you find people like this, one tries to help, for not a lot of people still exist like this. 😕

I hope the doctors are willing to give her lots of tests and try to find out whats wrong. It could be so many different things based on the broad list of symptoms. It could even be a serious disease. If it continues to get worse to the point she is no longer capable of working I recommend applying for some form of short term disability if possible and/or if needed. of course the doctor would also have to believe she is incapable of working in order for them to help her qualify. I'm not sure if she has these benefits through her work though. Hopefully it doesn't get this bad or any worse than it is now though. Good luck.

I will mention this thought to her @jack52059, but this is easier said than done.

Additionally, she is a strong woman. She has her bad day's/week(s), and this was visible last week, but she also has times where she is good to go.

She is a woman that is use to the term "keep it moving" because no one else can do it for you. So for her to stop is not really an option. Her husband and her are a team, so I don't want to give the wrong impression. With this being said, she is also an independent woman. Therefore, she is about keeping up her pace, while figuring out what is going on.

I talked to her recently, letting her know about what everyone's input has been.

She will mention the things highlighted in this post's reply and take it as it comes according/depending on what the test's reveal.

I will update, with her permission, once more word has been given.
