Unsolved pain

I’m under a Gastro specialist for pain in my lower stomach, right side only.

(I’ve always believed it was my groin)... but my specialist believes it is my small bowel. I had a camera inserted into my stomach  to check for Diverticular disease... which was confirmed. Since then the pain has worsened ( 6 years or more).

I was put on a GF diet for 12 months; I quite enjoyed that although never felt any real change. The last time I saw the specialist he put me on Amytriptine; a small dose and said he wanted to see me in twelve months.

A few months later, I visited my doctor with unpleasant side effects; he changed my tablet to Nortriptyline, same dose. During the last month, my pain has appeared in different parts of the body including under my sternum, upper back right and left and my ribs are tender.

I visited the doctor last week and she suggested that because the pain is popping up in different parts of the body, it may be nerve related.

My bloods were satisfactory, my scan showed up clear so a mystery.

She has increased my tablet dose and given me a strong pain killer just in case.

I live from day to day fearing the worst whereas really I should be getting on with life. Anyone have any ideas ?

hi jane, unfortunately i cant do anything but sympathise with you.  i have severe diverticular disease and an unsympathetic gastro consultant.  she said to me last april, it is everywhere not just in one place, so if it flares or gets unbearable, you will have to have a stoma, i had a follow up in december, the gp had said to me, if she looks like she isnt going to examine you, ask her to (stomach is severely bloated and hard constantly) december came, i asked her, and she refused, saying i had trapped wind!  i have my follow up with her again on 18th and dreading it, as she is awful.  i said to gp i dont know why i am going.  i also developed a stabbing/tingling in the left and right of my head in feb 17.  i saw neurologist, mri brain just showed high signal foci in the white matter, he said it was something that would be found on anyones scan over 50. he told me i have migraine, i have had the pains/tingling on and off every single day for the last 14 months!  unfortunately for me (which is how i look at it) a rheumatologist diagnosed me with fibro 4 years ago, after 20 years of me having stabbing/squeezing all over my body, and mystery viruses constantly, bad sick records at work, no sympathy from anyone, and just given the diagnosis and left to it.  my knee now swells constantly and goes bright red and the same rheumi consultant sent a letter to gp when she asked him to see me saying 'i have told this lady she has fibromyalgia i do not wish to see her again.  so everything that crops up they are now blaming Fibro. i feel ok in the morning, then some

days out of the blue i will feel like i am getting a horrific flu bug and take myself to bed.  only to feel ok again next morning .  good luck with everything.  i have now resorted to contacting an organisation of doctors who help people who have been misdiagnosed and waiting for a reponse.  as well as waiting for a second opinion wiht a different neurologist, and god knows what i will do about the gastro side of things.  X

Hi, maybe a pain clinic might be a choice. They may have knowledge re nerve issues better than your dr. I encourage you to seek help this is so unusual and who knows what kind of damage is going on! Maybe a Mayo Clinic type facility is an option. My husband had similar issues while on statins so maybe the drugs can be involved! Hit the internet you can go to Mayo Clinic put in your symptoms and it matches possible reasons/conditions. So sorry you are dealing with this, the change in your lifestyle and quality of life is devastating. I understand the loss you are experiencing. It will take all of your willpower to keep on top of this! Best wishes and hugs are heading your way. Keep fighting, you need to be the leader of your health!! 🕊🍀🌹🧚???🧚???
