Unstable knee

hi, im 4weels after tkr and for the passed three days habe been having sudden severe pain when walking, my knee seems to come loose causing me such pain that i cant put any weight on leg, and feel sick and hot, its painful non stop and im mot sleeping, its also swollen and hot, , any advise woulf be appreciated please

    sorry to hear this, the hotness and swelling is normal, I'm sure you have been doing the ice pack's (non Stop). But as for the Pain and loosness of the Knee is quite worrying. Perhaps you should go back to see surgeon before your 6 week check up

      thank you for replying, i have an appointment on tuesday with the surgeon, hoping he'll offer me an xray, to put my mind at rest

    Yup...heat and swelling are totally normal in the first 90 days. After that, swelling occurs when you push the knee too hard on any given day. Get a pedometer and track your steps. Very helpful.

    At 6 weeks, you should have your alignment appointment with your surgeon to make sure everything is OK on the inside. That's the time to bring up any issues you may be having. Remember that all the muscles that do the normal daily work of moving around supporting the knee are all atrophied and have to be rebuilt...after you get your ROM back...so don't expect that your knee to handle what it did before. That all comes with the muscle rebuild after the ROM work.

    The whole recovery usually takes a year...a long haul. Your tools are time, work and patience. Give up all your expectations and do the work. You will be fine...
