Unsual symptoms

Hi all,

I've looked amongst this forum and can't seem to find anyone that has the same symptoms as myself, I don't know if these are unusual or just very normal symptoms.

I've actually been feeling alright now for the past 4 days, I wouldn't say I've been enjoying what I've been doing but I haven't been down in the dumps either. Just rather taking baby steps to help myself.

I'll try to list my symptoms as well as I can:

- Constantly feel that somethings up but can't seem to explain it or put my finger on it

- I worry about my brain a lot and worry has it been damaged in these past 4 months

- My mind feels blank, no clear thoughts

- Head feels tight

- Worry that I might not be able to get back to the way I felt before

- I feel that in all this depression something has changed me and I'm now completely crazy

I'm not taking any medication at the minute because I want to try some CBT before I start on any medication.

Does anyone have any tips they can lend to recover from this?

    Dear Paul,

If you have cleared out all other physiological attributes by your GP, then do these symptoms (below) fit your feelings?

People with generalized anxiety disorder have recurring fears or worries, such as about health or finances, and they often have a persistent sense that something bad is just about to happen. The reason for the intense feelings of anxiety may be difficult to identify. But the fears and worries are very real and often keep individuals from concentrating on daily tasks.

If so, you might find the the APA website beneficial.

I am sorry you are going through such an uneasy time. I hope this information will be helpful to you.

Hi paul, you seem to have a lot of variables there. What would make you feel that you have brain damage? Did you bump your head or drink too much etc. Seems contradictory that you feel good yet from what I'm reading you worry a lot about it. Then you say you feel normal for few days. If you are having good thoughts that is good. If you are having no thoughts I would think that would be something like daydreaming. I don't know either. But I will agree that I do share a feeling of fear of not knowing. Best bet would get a psychological checkup if you are in doubt. Take care.

    Hi Paul

I think you have normal symptoms of anxiety there. It sounds like you seem restless, you can't stop your mind from worrying about things, you worry from anything to everything, you have difficulty relaxing and find it difficult to think about anything else.

I can relate to having felt some of the things you have said there but some of your worries are clearly personal to your own situation. I had worried that I might never go back to the way I felt before, I worried that I was going to feel like this forever, my worries brought me down and fuelled depression in a vicious circle.

I'm going to find some links for you that I was sent as part of my treatment, self-help links that you can have a read of yourself. I hope they help you get more informed about anxiety and depression, and help you to understand a bit more about the way you are feeling.

Hi sunset, Thanks for taking interest in my "dilemma." Yes, I think you have pinned the tale on the donkey except a little beyond normal. My situation does not help because I feel trapped alone in a small 1 bedroom apt. with the law breathing down my back forcing me to me to make AA meetings (as I truly do want to ) without permitting me to drive because I am a DWI 1st offender. So it confines me to try bide my time. But that is not the only reason. My insurance company offered a "free checkup" and the doctor said it was a chemical thing and I tend to agree. Moody feelings so to speak. Yes, I am at that age now where I feel like nothing will change 57. Any thing that will help, I will try. I would appreciate any links you could provide. Again, thank you.

Sorry about confusion.....My name is paul to but go by my middle name pat, so in answering sunset's post, the symptoms were identical to mine so apologies to the screen name paul for answering. But I still will consider sunset's reference.
