Unsuccesful Urolift Procedure

Posted , 11 users are following.

I was wondering if any of the people on here who  have had the Urolift procedure but found that it did not work and have gone on to have another procedure, what type of problems you incurred  (if any) when having the bands removed,  have been told they can only remove part of the bands. Thanks

I went on and had Greenlight Laser.  Very happy and all except one clip removed.  No potential side effects.

Were the pins removed as part of the procedure or prior to? I was told they are removed as part of the procedure if you have a TURP or similar procedure (basically cut and sucked out).

I think you posted previously elsewhere that you haven't had any complications or RE. Does your doctor specialize in EPT, or is he just really good at GL, or were you lucky?

He is the GL specialist at at a large group with lots of experience .

For 13 yrs and five separate uros I have bled n spewed clots of all sizes until the right urologist appeared, showed me photos of the previous TURPs, PVP, where they all did an incomplete job.

I now do not rush to the bathroom every 15 mnts.

    Weak stream no more

    Libido is good.

I am 77, take no drugs of any kind.

Bottom line, the right urologist determines the correct procedure.

    Hi Phil,

I am due to have the Urolift soon. Could you tell me how long ago you had it done and what went wrong?

      Hi Stephen

I had the Urolift nearly 2 yrs ago now, at the time, I was informed by my consultant that due to my large prostate there is a higher risk that it might not work but I was so adamant I was willing to take the risk, I had 6 bands put in, apart from the usual problems when first having it done, I had no problem at all and I really thought it started to improve but unfortunately things went back to how I was before the Op. When I went back to my consultant his next recommendation was to go for Green light Laser treatment.

So hence my original question as anyone had their Urolift bands taken out.
