Unsuccessful surgery

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi everyone, I have found this forum to be so helpful. Has anyone had a cystocele and rectocele done at the same time and not had much success? I've just been referred back to gynae, so wondering what could possibly be the next step! I'm now 5 months post op but un fortunately it has become obvious that something needs to be done again!

Thank you

    hi there

I've had the surgery performed twice in my life and both times I didn't go back after my 6 week check up. do u have symptoms which gave u cause for concern?

I do. I booked an appt with our nursing practitioner, she looked and said that she could see it wasn't right and wrote a letter referring me back to gynae. Basically I can feel a drop when walking to work and often feel yucky - damp by the time I arrive. I 've used a mirror to look , so flat when I get out of bed and coming down by the end of the day - very frustrating : /

Hello, I haven't had mesh, just stitching - I think. I've definitely dropped and was wondering what experiences other people may have had and of any options they may have been offered.I had three different sized pessaries over two years before I had my op.

      hi sandra

I had my first anterior done 2016 and it didn't hold. I believe it was the technique he used as I had rest for 8 wks.

like you felt something there when I walked, it drive me crazy too be honest.

cut a long story short I had it redone 2018 with a tvh and a new consultant who is fabulous.

no repair is 100% guarantees which us what's worrying me but I cant live thinking oh what if it fails again.

I do worry over it as our tissues will always stretch over time but we cant keep having surgery all the time.

I know how worrying it can be but try and go back to your consultant and get answers then yiu can make the best decision.

my back wall us a bit weak but he wont touch as it's not bad enough. I find it hard to poo with suppositories and as I'm a small eater fibre us hard to get a lot off sk I'm plodding on at the moment.

pessaries dont do it for me so I've not even tried. they nay work for yiu but are very much trial and error and I could be bothered with that.

if I'd know about prolapse I'd if had caesarian back in 1995 lol.x

Hi, I'm so sorry this has happened to you, it's so depressing, I have the same problem. Jan 2019 I had ssf, anterior, posterior and perineal repairs, but the posterior/rectocele is back with the added discomfort that, sorry if tmi, but my anus/bum hle seems to be sticking out more. Were you offered more surgery? Hope you are not too uncomfortable, good luck.

Hello, I am on the list for a second lot of surgery, so hopefully it will be put right this time. Are you going to have another op? Sounds like you are having a bit of a nightmare too 😦 X

Well ... I would have another op if I thought it would help, but at 63 I'm wondering if my tissue is too weak and maybe a successful outcome isn't possible or I could end up with more damage. Glad to hear you have been offered more surgery, really hope is all goes well for you xx

Hi, I had exactly the same as you done last November. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for a second lot of surgery as I'm dropping again too 😦 It seems that these repairs aren't all they are meant to be! I'm really pleased to be a member of this forum as I've had very helpful advice in the past 😃 Take care x

      hi sandra

it really sucks doesnt it that these repairs may not last long . my first anterior lasted a coup,e of months but by the time I had it redone my uterus dropped so I ended up have tvh and repair as I had done menopause and didn't want to take risk the uterus lift wouldnt last long.

my back wall us playing up a bit and wondering when to have that done. my consultant agreed to fo it as it's been 2 years next Jan I had the surgery. I dont know if my front wall drops again whether they would do another one. what faf all this is for us women hey.

      good
