Unsure if it’s nerve pain in feet

hello all, i was wondering if anyone else has this problem and could it be associated with nerves in the feet

at night it happens most, in bed my feet feel like they are being bitten, there are no signs of any bugs, we have changed our mattress have protector covers on new one and on duvets, pillows, shampooed carpets, treated premises for bugs as a precaution, we do have cats but they are flea treated regularly and show no signs, my partner never gets bitten in the bed even if im not there, the problem also did not stop while on holiday in spian, and recently stayed at a b&b in london and same there,

its driving me crazy and wondered if any one has had this and if its related to the nerves or illnes, THANKS IN ADVANCE

If you have no bite marks on your feet, and it is happening in other places as well as your home, it sounds like neuropathy which is worse at night. I get numbness on the sole of one foot at night which could be linked to my back injury. I also have pain , tingling and numbness in both hands and arms also due to injuries. Neuropathy can cause all sorts of strange sensations such as itching, a crawling feeling and the feeling that you have a glove or sock on the limb affected, even when your foot, hand or arm is bare. If there were bugs, you would expect your partner to get bitten too. However, this is not happening, and since you have taken precautions against this, it is more likely neuropathy. See your doctor to confirm if you have neuropathic pain.

The symptoms you describe do not sound like bug bites; they sound like neuropathy , especially sharp stabbing pain and electric shock sensations which I get too. There is not much you can do about it because there is no cure. It can only be managed. I find over the counter painkillers and heat help me. Perhaps try that to see if it improves your symptoms. Neuropathy can occur for variety of reasons and not just as a result of diabetes.

hello all, quick update, went to GP she thinks its restless leg syndrome which can also happen in the feet with some of my symptoms, had blood test for low iron as this can be a cause but they have come back normal, GP said it can be caused by various things so will return.

Hi Marie. I have similar except it is a stabbing pain. I am a diabetic and my Doctor says it is Diabetic Neuropathy. (the nerves in my foot are inflamed) If you are a diabetic it sounds like the same for you. I take one Gabapentin and the pain goes after about 1/2 hour. I find that even if it only starts as a vey minor pain, taking a couple of Paracetamol stops it before it gets worse. If it gets worse I take the Gabapentin.
